Top 3 Moments From the Women’s March 2018

SOLIDARITY! This year’s Women’s March saw an enormous turn up of women from different walks of life to protest the politicization of women’s bodies, to encourage intersectional feminism, and to fight for reproductive and equal rights. While there were dozens of moments that summarized the massive political demonstration, here are three amazing moments of solidarity and bravery from the Women’s March 2018.

#3: Scarlett Johansson Calls Out James Franco

In the wake of yet another sexual assault scandal in Hollywood, Johansson took to the stage to deliver a powerful message to hypocritical supporters of the “Times Up” movement, namely Golden Globe winner James Franco. She criticized the nerve of an abuser to use the “Times Up” platform as a veil for his inexcusable behaviour, and demanded that he return the pin he so boldly wore during his acceptance speech for “The Disaster Artist”. Tellem’, Scarlett!

#2: The Signs

Thousands of women showed up for the Women’s March on January 22nd, and there was no shortage of powerful signage to complete their showcase of solidarity! From hilarious signs poking fun at the current administration, to poignant expressions of the politicization of women’s bodies, there was creativity and fierce determination in the air.

#1: Halsey’s Spoken Word Poem

Undoubtedly one of the most moving moments of the Women’s March 2018, singer Halsey delivered a breath-taking and sobering poem about sexual assault, intersectional feminism, and women’s bodies. Her spoken word was immeasurably powerful and thought provoking, and her delivery was nothing short of incredible. There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd when she uttered her final war cry: “Lord knows there’s a war to be won”. We’re with you, sister!
