The Front Runner: Acer Predator X27

Gamers are one of the biggest customers when it comes to 4K monitors, and that’s exactly who the Predator X27 is aimed at. This 27-inch 4K monitor has HDR and a super impressive refresh rate of 144 Hertz, perfect for those with a powerful gaming system. It also looks cool, thanks to a sleek, aggressive design that will stylishly blend in next to an LED computer case. It’s pretty expensive at around $1,300, but if you’re serious about gaming, then this monitor will not disappoint.

The Comparable: BenQ PD3200U

Our runner-up pick comes in at around $700, and boasts a solid Ultra-High-Definition display. Measuring in at 32 inches, it’s ideal for designers who are looking for a color-accurate display for viewing their work. And while it’s not specifically designed for gaming, its 4-millisecond pixel response will easily accommodate it. For added workplace convenience, it also adjusts for height and tilt, and comes with an SD card reader, as well as a range of USB connections.

The Value Option: Philips Brilliance 328P

Refresh rates and high-definition terminology can get a little overwhelming, right? Well, if you’re after a 4K monitor that will deliver great all-round performance at an affordable price, Philips has the excellent Brilliance 328P model. This 31.5-inch monitor has a 4K display and impressive HDR stats; and while its finer details may not measure up to the best-in-class, its price makes up for it, as it costs around $500. If you’re a video editor or graphic designer, take note.

The Budget Option: Dell UltraSharp U2718Q

If low cost is your number one criteria, then this 27-inch Dell model is definitely worth a look. It has 4K resolution, of course, which offers a crisp, clear and vivid picture, according to the review gurus at T3. But in addition to that, this $480 monitor just looks really slick, thanks to its ultra-thin bezel design. Sure, it doesn’t have USB-C connectivity, but it does have a multitude of other ports, like HDMI, a DisplayPort socket and USB 3.0.

The Mac-Friendly Option: LG UltraFine 24MD4KL-B

If you’ve been scrolling through monitor specs looking for Mac compatibility, then fear not, this LG Ultrafine model comes equipped with USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports to allow for easy connectivity. This 24-inch monitor will favour videographers and photographers looking for super accurate color and clarity, thanks to its high pixel density and impressively high brightness settings. Prices start from around $700.

So which monitor should you choose? Well, all of these offer impressive 4K resolution. But if you’re a designer or gamer wanting to get the absolute most out of your computer system, then be sure to read the fine print on things like refresh rates and pixel density.
