At this year’s Doctor Who panel at the San Diego International Comic-Con, BBC revealed a new teaser for the upcoming 11th series of Doctor Who which will feature the franchise’s first female Doctor. Jodie Whittaker is taking over as the Thirteenth Doctor, replacing Peter Capaldi on the long-running, much-beloved British sci-fi show. The series is undergoing massive changes both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, as Chris Chibnall will be taking over as showrunner replacing Steven Moffat, who’s been at the helm since 2010.
The trailer seems to be presenting a slightly darker tone than the one longtime fans of the series are familiar with, but change is to be expected with so many new faces involved. The teaser also gave us our first look at the new sonic screwdriver, as well as the new companion Graham (Bradley Walsh), Ryan (Tosin Cole), and Yasmin (Mandip Gill).
Expect to see more between now and October, when the series is set to debut.
