Aggretsuko Season Two Set For 2019 Release

Bring On The Death Metal

Making her debut on Netflix earlier this year, the office-based antics of this anxious and overworked red panda took the anime world by storm. Not only because of the dichotomy of having an adorable fluffball like Retsuko deal with life by singing metal karaoke, but also due to the fact it had the art style of a Hello Kitty cartoon yet addressed many of the real-world issues the working middle class face on a daily basis. Uplifting, hilarious yet layered with dark comedy, the misery of Retsuko’s life apparently had such a profound effect on audiences that it landed her a second season, one set for release only a year from now!

According to an article on IGN

“Netflix’s anime series Aggretsuko is returning for a second season, it was confirmed today at the 2018 Anime Expo.

If you didn’t catch the first season, Aggretsuko is centred around an anthropomorphic red panda named Retsuko who relieves the resentment of her dead-end day job by screaming out death metal at Karaoke nights. Season 1’s writer and director Rareko (or Rarecho) will return for season 2.

Netflix’s Leila Brillson tweeted out the trailer for Aggretsuko season 2, which you can check out below.”

This can only mean that Retsuko’s workplace troubles and romantic blunders have only just begun. Are you looking forward to seeing her clash with her literal pig of a boss? Perhaps finally give Haida a chance at winning her heart? Maybe Fenneko will get another shot at unleashing that laugh of hers. Either way, we can only fathom how much drama, awkwardness and epic karaoke solos are going to come out of this anticipated sequel series!

Be sure to check out the video below to see if Retsuko and the gang made the cut for our picks for the Top 10 Anime of Spring 2018.
