We knew this day would come. The brand new âAvengers: Infinity Warâ trailer debuted during ABCâs âGood Morning Americaâ Wednesday morning, and while it wasnât the same trailer shown at D23 back in July, it was nonetheless thrilling to see The Avengers, The Guardians of the Galaxy, and Thanos in one action-packed trailer.
The trailer featured some genuinely awe-inspiring moments, like Spider-Man leaping into the action sporting the suit we saw at the end of âHomecomingâ and Thor meeting up with the Guardians for the first time. But the trailer also left us with many questions that will leave us all clamoring for answers until the movie drops in May 2018 (or, you know, until the next trailer).
#3 – Whoâs That?
New Marvel movie = new characters, and we may have just seen our first glimpse at one of them. Blink and youâll miss it: this trailer gives us our first glimpse at who we can only assume to be Proxima Midnight, a member of Thanosâ Black Order, who are confirmed to make an appearance in âInfinity Warâ – but how do the others play in? Weâve yet to see Ebony Maw, Corvus Glaive, Supergiant, or Black Dwarf, but expect to see more in the coming months.
#2 – Whose Side is Loki On?
The trailer confirms that Loki took off with the Tesseract at the end of âThor: Ragnarokâ but what remains unclear is what he plans on doing with it. Does Thanos take it from the God of Mischief, or is Loki fulfilling the promise he made way back in 2012âs âThe Avengers.â Weâre not sure which we prefer since one likely means the end for everyoneâs favorite Marvel villain, and the other means that the character development weâve seen in the last few films was all for naught.
#1 – Is This the End of Vision?
The trailer featured some harrowing images, namely Vision having the Mind Stone ripped from his head. While many fans predicted this from the moment Vision appeared on screen for the first time in âAge of Ultron,â the question remains: can Vision survive this encounter with the Mad Titan? We know that the stone was the source of his power, so that would suggest that tearing it out of him would likely mean his end. That being said, it seems unlikely that Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige would allow the marketing team to include the death of an Avenger in a trailer – is this an example of clever misdirection, or is Vision down for the count?
So, what do you think? Whatâs your best guess for the As of some of these unanswered Qs?
