The Champions Get Their Due
As one of the greatest games to come out this year, or the last decade depending on who you talk to, the latest entry in the Zelda franchise scored big with fans and critics. With its addicting gameplay, a beautiful re-imagining of the Kingdom of Hyrule and plenty of room to explore, Breath of the Wild easily stands at the pinnacle with some of Link’s greatest adventures.
One of the strongest aspects in regards to its narrative were the Champions; four brand new characters and allies of both Link and Zelda. Needless to say, their backstories really managed to twist the knife in our hearts as we neared the final battle with Calamity Ganon.
Especially Mipha. Mipha is everything.
Now the latest DLC, entitled The Champion’s Ballad, will hopefully give us a chance to interact with (or perhaps play as) the four lost souls who helped Link become the hero he was destined to be.

People have been waiting for the second expansion for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a story base add-on to the original game that takes place after the events in the core game, focuses on the four champions, and adds a new dungeon, for a while now. All we have known is that it is due out this year- but we’ve had no release date for it whatsoever.
Well, now we might have a hint towards it. A download card for the Expansion Pass for Breath of the Wild (which is how you get access to both expansions for it) has been listed on the game’s Japanese website, and it is listed for November 23rd.
Now, of course, it can totally launch before the second expansion itself is out- but that sounds unlikely, to be honest. It seems like Nintendo would want to push it out to have it coincide with the release of the second DLC. That day is also when the Explorer’s Edition for the game is due to release in North America- so all signs point to a November 23 release.
Hopefully we get a confirmation soon.
