Prepare to be aMAZEd! Maze Runner: The Death Cure official trailer hits the ground running!

By josh-selinger,

Time is running out for the Maze Runner series. 20th Century Fox has just released the first official trailer for Maze Runner: The Death Cure, the final chapter in the action-packed YA series. Fans of the franchise have been waiting patiently due to production delays after star Dylan O’Brien was badly injured on set last year. Fortunately, O’Brien is back in fighting form and kicking-ass alongside his trusted fellow Gladers.

The cast features a gaggle of fresh-faced twentysomethings including Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and Nathalie Emmanuel, as well as seasoned vets Giancarlo Esposito, Patricia Clarkson, Barry Pepper, and Walton Goggins.

The film is based on the third novel from James Dashner’s best-selling dystopian sci-fi series. While this may be the end of this current cinematic incarnation, Dashner’s written two prequels to The Death Cure, so all hope is not lost for more Maze running in the future.

Here’s the trilogy-closer’s official synopsis:

In the epic finale to the Maze Runner saga, Thomas leads his group of escaped Gladers on their final and most dangerous mission yet. To save their friends, they must break into the legendary Last City, a WCKD-controlled labyrinth that may turn out to be the deadliest maze of all. Anyone who makes it out alive will get answers to the questions the Gladers have been asking since they first arrived in the maze.
