#5: “Rock God” (2010)
Selena Gomez & The Scene

"It's one of my favorite songs ever.” That’s how Selena Gomez described “Rock God” in an interview with MTV News back in 2010. The track, which comes from Gomez’s pop rock group’s second album “A Year Without Rain”, was co-written by Katy Perry; with the 13-time Grammy nominee even providing background vocals on the finished product. This was not the only time that Selena Gomez & The Scene enlisted Perry’s help, using “That’s More Like It”, a throbbing, dance-pop track that Perry co-wrote, on their third and final album.

#4: “Get On Your Knees” (2014)
Nicki Minaj feat. Ariana Grande

The fourth track off of her 2014 album “The Pinkprint”, “Get On Your Knees” features a beautiful juxtaposition between the salt of Minaj’s flow and the sweet of Ariana Grande’s chorus. Katy Perry contributed lyrics to the song and was reportedly first in line to sing the hook and chorus, but was ultimately passed over in favor of Grande. Perhaps to cushion the blow Minaj throws her a bone in the form of the blink and you’ll miss it verse: "Got me seein' them fireworks/I'm on my Kate Perry." Hey, don’t act like you wouldn’t be down to get name dropped by Nicki Minaj!

#3: “Passenger” (2013)
Britney Spears

Talk about star power! “Passenger”, the eighth track off of Spears’ 2013 album “Britney Jean”, was co-written by Diplo and Katy Perry, with the former also serving as a producer. The song, with its pop beat and breezy yet passion-fueled lyrics could have no doubt appeared on one of Perry’s own albums; and truth be told it almost did! You see, “Passenger” was originally supposed to appear on her 2013 album “Prism” before being passed along to Spears. Seeing as how Britney totally killed it, we have no qualms with this particular song-swap.

#2: “I Do Not Hook Up” (2009)

Much like our previous entry “I Do Not Hook Up” was originally meant for Katy Perry and should have appeared on her 2008 sophomore album “One of the Boys”. However, after a falling out with her label Perry gave the song, as well as another titled “Long Shot”, to Kelly Clarkson. The multiple Grammy winner wasted no time in turning both songs into hits, with “I Do Not Hook Up” peaking at number 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and “Long Shot” being praised as a “sturdy, memorable pop” number by music critics.

Without a doubt the most successful track that Katy Perry has ever penned for another artist, “Black Widow” peaked at number three on Billboard Hot 100 music chart, topped numerous others and sold more than 4 million copies in the United States alone. The trap song features no shortage of biting lyrics that would have felt right at home on a Katy Perry album. And guess what? They almost did, as the song was originally meant for Perry’s 2013 LP, “Prism”. Of course you’d be hard pressed to argue with Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora’s performances, as they straight up ooze confidence, skill and sex appeal from start to finish.
