Even by anime standards, this was just weird. Welcome to WatchMojo and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 10 WTF Anime Battles!

For this list, we’ll be looking at the fights in anime that were way outside the box of conventional. Whether they’re hilarious or unsettling, these are the clashes people remember for all the wrong reasons!

#10: Banana Brutality

“Aho-Girl” (2017)

Oh Yoshiko. Such a carefree spirit with a brick for a brain, bound by a relentless desire to indulge in bananas. If you can survive her endearing stupidity, then she’ll be a companion for life, but if you mess with her thick yellow fruit then prepare to get peeled. Unluckily for the residents of Dick High, they just so happened to disrespect her precious bananas, and as such end up the recipients of a rather particular beatdown…complete with getting bananas violently shoved down their throats. Um…at least they’re getting their potassium?

#9: Musclebound

“Arakawa Under the Bridge” (2010)

Turns out that there is such a thing as too many muscles, as proven when this obnoxious kid with a metal face decided to tango with the equally large Lolita. It’s the heavyweight fight nobody wanted but we got anyway, one that could have been avoided if Tetsuo had just put the breaks on his muscle fetish. After his vanity goes too far, it falls to Stella and his brother to put an end to things…with the later eventually winning the day by draining his sibling’s muscles and adding them to his own. Eew.

#8: Metapod Use Harden!

“Pokémon” (1997-)

You haven’t seen dedication until you’ve watched two Metapods trying to out do each other…by hardening. That’s it. Just Ash and this wannabe samurai guy screaming at their bugs to keep on using harden, harden some more, unleash maximum harden, and so on and so forth. It’s a shame that the Beedrill eventually interfered in this hard-off because we’ll never know which Metapod was truly the hardest.

#7: The Kancho Wars

“Chio’s School Road” (2018)

By this point, we’d long abandoned questioning how Chio gets herself into these situations, so it shouldn’t be all that surprising to see her trying to spare her derrière from getting prodded by a foul-mouthed middle-schooler with a grudge. While she does manage to protect her posterior from getting invaded, the same can’t be said of Manana, who turns into something of a monster as she seeks revenge by means of a full two-hander to rear! Yes, it’s as dirty as it sounds.

#6: Rock, Paper, Scissors

“Hinamatsuri” (2018)

Not quite the psychic duel we were expecting, but then again anything with Hina is bound to go pear shaped. What was supposed to be an epic battle between two psychokinetic masters ends up becoming a tad one sided when Anzu gets her butt thoroughly kicked. While she’s certainly able to force Hina’s face to flap around into the most hilarious of expressions, when it comes time for her to get telekinetically bitch slapped, Hina’s overwhelming power nearly snaps the future homeless girl’s neck like a twig. Game, set, match!

#5: Deadly Dodgeball

“Hunter x Hunter” (2011-14)

Look, we’d take any excuse to see Gon, Killua and Hisoka team up, though taking on a group of violent Hunters inside of a video game via a life-threatening game of dodgeball was certainly not the way we saw it playing out. While’s there’s obviously plenty of bad blood between the young duo and the infamous jester, the threat Razor and his cronies presented turned out to be too big to ignore. As a result, they slipped on the shorts, got their team spirit on and even pulling a three-person formation to win the game. Uh, be careful of how close you let Hisoka get to you Gon…

#4: Toilet Troubles

“Ultimate Muscle” (2002-04)

A wrestler wearing a bizarre mask throwing it down with famous director who just happens to be a living toilet, complete with hypnotic fragrances and toilet paper as sharp as steel. The Choujin Crown was weird, people! While it looked like Kid Muscle was circling the drain, he managed to pull a victory from the drain of defeat by…clogging Hollywood Bowl up with a rice dish? This ends up doing the trick, since after nearly drowning in his own fluids, he’s left vulnerable to Kid’s Muscle Millennium. Guess he got well and truly…flushed?

#3: Too Perfect

“Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto” (2016)

While we have no doubts the glasses wearing prodigy could easily smite any bully who tried to tango with him, Sakamoto wouldn’t be the perfect student if he simply succumbed to hormones and battled it out with his classmate. While he does indeed best the fearsome Hayabusa with his superior sumo skills, instead of giving him a taste of rainswept tarmac, he chooses to call him a taxi to avoid getting a cold. There has never been a more thoughtful smackdown in all of anime.

#2: Gintoki Loses His Balls

“Gintama” (2006-)

You know there had to be a Gintama entry here somewhere, and while the White Demon spends most days dealing with copious amounts of WTF, nothing tops the time he and his precious plums found themselves detached from one another. After accidentally landing on a spiked club, Gin’s pride and joy end up escaping the nest – which leads to a pair of magic users desperately trying re-attach/re-remove them. There’s nothing quite like watching Gin chase his Tamas around as they fly through the air, all before they get unceremoniously crushed.

#1: Sengoku Mecha Warfare

“Batman Ninja” (2018)

Okay, it might be hard to buy the premise about the Bat Family getting isekai’d to Sengoku era Japan and having to do battle against anime versions of Gotham’s worst…but damn if the battle with a giant robotic version of Joker going up against a swarm of bats shaped like Batman isn't one of the most awesome things you'll ever see. The writers of this flick had too much sake or Bats has been sniffing way too much of Scarecrow’s fear gas, because this shit is insane. Should have change the name to Batman Tokusatsu!
