Top 10 Worst Things James Bond Ever Did

From Connery to Craig, 007 has done some pretty shady stuff. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Worst Things James Bond Ever Did.

For this list, we’ll be looking at some of the most cold, brutal, and amoral acts bond has ever committed. Kills will only be included if they were perpetrated against a foe who was unarmed or no longer a threat. All of Bond’s other kills are fair game.

#10: He Treats Women Like Objects… Literally

“Goldfinger” (1964), “Thunderball” (1965)

Bond doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to the lady folk. He’s often been accused of treating women like objects and in a couple of films took things one-step further by literally using them as such. In “Goldfinger,” he’s making out with Bonita when he catches a glimpse of an attacker – in the reflection of her eye no less – and promptly swings her around to deflect the man’s blow. She falls to the floor unconscious. He does it again in “Thunderball,” using what turns out to be a SPECTRE agent to stop an assassin’s bullet. Sure, both these women were villains, but Bond didn’t have to do them like that.

#9: The Way He Disposed of Nick Nack

“The Man with the Golden Gun” (1974)

After finally defeating Christopher Lee’s iconic villain Francisco Scaramanga, Bond absconds to a boat to celebrate with his female companion Mary Goodnight. However, one of Scaramanga’s henchmen, the hilarious named Nick Nack, follows him aboard and tries to kill him. Bond narrowly escapes death and after a brief chase captures Nick Nack by… stuffing him into a suitcase. Bond disappears for a moment before returning to his love making session with Goodnight. But don’t worry, he didn’t throw Nick Nack overboard, he simply left him on the ship’s upper deck to bake in the hot sun. Whether or not the little guy ever received food or water is never mentioned.

#8: Bond Blackmails a Woman into Having Sex with Him

“Thunderball” (1965)

Even British secret agents need a little R&R from time to time. In “Thunderball,” Bond pays a visit to a spa, but seeing as how this is James Bond we’re talking about, it’s only a matter of time before he’s fending off would-be assassins. A spa employee ultimately saves him and instead of thanking the woman for you know, rescuing him, he blackmails her into have sex with him so that he won’t tell her boss what just happened. That’s pretty cold, even for a dude like 007.

#7: Letting Sandor Fall

“The Spy Who Loved Me” (1977)

In kill or be killed situation, Bond is second to none. However, once the threat has been neutralized, he’s been known to go a little overboard. Take this scene from “The Spy Who Loved Me” where Bond defeats Sandor in hand-to-hand combat and instead of taking him in, lets him fall off of a roof to his death. He does the exact same thing in “Quantum of Solace” and in “For Your Eyes Only” kicks a car off a cliff with a defenseless man still inside. James Bond may have a license to kill, but that doesn’t mean he has a license to straight-up murder people who’ve given up.

#6: The Time He Sexually Assaulted Pussy Galore

“Goldfinger” (1964)

Let’s face it; James Bond is a sexual predator. Don’t believe us? Check out this scene from “Goldfinger” wherein he full on assaults the less-than-subtly-named Pussy Galore, in a barn. First Bond grabs her arm and prevents her from leaving. She responds by tossing him to the ground and telling him she’s not interested. What does Bond do? He slams her to the ground twice before jumping on top of her and trying to kiss her. As she helplessly tries to push him off, he continues to lean in for a kiss and when she’s finally too tired to fight back he succeeds. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that this encounter was far from consensual.

#5: When He Stuck a Girl in a Closet… to Have Sex with Someone Else

“The Man with the Golden Gun” (1974)

Remember Mary Goodnight? The woman Bond was having sex with when he was attacked by Nick Nack? Well, earlier in the film she and Bond were fooling around in his hotel room when they heard a knock at the door. Bond responded by hiding Goodnight under a blanket. The person at the door turned out to be Andrea Anders, Scaramanga’s mistress, and after a little banter the two kiss. When she excuses herself to go to the bathroom, Bond chucks Goodnight into a closet and then has sex with Anders! We get it, Bond is a sexual deviant, but have some respect for the women in your life man!

#4: When He Tricked Solitaire into Sex

“Live and Let Die” (1973)

“Live and Let Die” is easily one of the strangest films in the Bond franchise and features a particularly skeevy move by the British secret agent. Early in the film, Bond meets Solitaire, a psychic whose abilities are tied to her virginity. Using a deck of rigged tarot cards, Bond tricks Solitaire into thinking they belong together, which ultimately leads to them having sex. This causes her to lose her abilities. It’s a pretty shameless move on Bond’s part, but if this list has taught us anything, it’s that Bond will do whatever it takes to get a woman into bed.

#3: When He Abandoned Dominic Greene in the Desert

“Quantum of Solace” (2008)

After foiling Dominic Greene’s plans for monopolizing Bolivia’s water supply, he drives the crooked environmentalist into the middle of the desert. Despite Bond’s assertion that he would let Greene go if he cooperated, MI6s’ finest abandons him anyway. But not before giving him a can of oil and quipping, “I bet you make it 20 miles before you consider drinking that.” Damn. Given how much pain Greene caused throughout the film, we get why he’s so cruel, but wouldn’t Bond’s bosses have some questions for him too? Isn’t he still a human being? Geez.

#2: The Entire “Sévérine” Saga

“Skyfall” (2012)

Perhaps no female character in the history of the Bond franchise was as mistreated as Sévérine. A victim of human trafficking who serves as antagonist Raoul Silva’s unwilling associate / mistress, Sévérine has seen her fair share of darkness; a fact Bond wastes little time exploiting. He creepily hops in the shower with her knowing full well she won’t turn down his advances because she needs him in order to escape. Shortly after Silva challenges Bond to game of “shoot the glass of expensive liquor off of Sévérine’s head”. Boys will be boys, right? Bond misses, but Silva doesn’t, to which 007 responds with "What a waste of good scotch." Sincere or not, Sévérine deserved better.

Before we unveil our to pick, here is a dishonorable mention:

When Bond Disrespected The Beatles

“Goldfinger” (1964)

#1: When Bond Went Full Racist

“You Only Live Twice” (1967)

James Bond in “yellowface” might just be one of the most overtly racist moments in cinematic history. In order to avoid SPECTRE agents while in Tokyo, Bond attempts to pass as one of the locals by slapping some fake eyebrows on his forehead and changing his hairstyle. The fact that he doesn’t look the slightest bit Japanese does little to change how retroactively cringe-worthy this scene is. It’s far from the only reason the film feels dated, as the Japanese are also referred to as “Orientals” multiple times. We get the 60s were a different time, but this one has aged so poorly we wonder how it ever made it on-screen in the first place!
