Top 10 TV Couples of 2017

This has been a great year for TV that has been full of interesting romantic relationships. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 TV Couples of 2017.

For this list, we’re counting down our favorite couples from TV shows airing in 2017, and focusing on events from the most recent seasons of the shows. We’ll be talking about recent events on many of these shows so a spoiler warning is definitely in order.

#10: Oliver & Felicity
“Arrow” (2012-)

As of season six of “Arrow”, fan favorite couple affectionately known as “Olicity” is officially back together. The relationship between Felicity Smoak and Oliver Queen has been a tumultuous one throughout the show, originally starting their relationship in season three and getting engaged in season four. It seemed though that there were always forces seeming to keep these two apart. As of the episode "Next of Kin" however which aired at the end of October, things are officially getting hot and heavy again. Oliver gave Felicity a key to his place and their kiss sealed the deal. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that this time they stay together!

#9: Alison & Emily
“Pretty Little Liars” (2010-17)

“Pretty Little Liars” aired its seventh and final season in the summer of 2017 and luckily one of the fan favorite couples finally ended up together. Alison and Emily or “Emison” was one of the most shipped couples on the show, counting even some of the cast among its fans. These two got their happily ever after near the end of the season when they decided to become a family together and coparent Alison’s twin girls. After the time jump, we got to see these two as moms and it was almost too cute to handle.

#8: Alec & Magnus
“Shadowhunters” (2016-)

In 2017, there are a lot of great depictions of LGBTQ couples on screen, but for a new show, “Shadowhunters” has managed to create a rabid fanbase for one of its primary relationships. Alec and Magnus or “Malec” finally got together at the end of the show’s first season after a whole lot of sexual tension had built up. In season two, their relationship really took off. Viewers had some issues with how the couple’s intimate encounters began, questioning whether proper consent was given before they consummated their relationship. The writers really gave us a scare when Malec broke up near the end of season two but we could breath a big sigh of relief when they got back together in the finale.

#7: Clarke & Bellamy
“The 100” (2014-)

This is one of those relationships that goes to show that opposites really do attract. In the novel series of “The 100”, Clarke and Bellamy get together relatively early on and end up married and have a child together. Knowing this, fans have had to agonize over their slow burning relationship on the show for four whole season without them ever being physically intimate. The show’s creators have confirmed that they will indeed get together in the future, but even watching these two progressively get closer has been almost enough for us.

#6: Killian & Emma
“Once Upon a Time” (2011-)

Earlier in 2017, one of “Once Upon a Time”’s fan favorite couples finally got their happily ever after. At the end of the show’s sixth season, Emma Swan and Killian Jones (aka Captain Hook) got a chance to make their commitment a permanent one and said their I dos. Though their story is officially over and the actress who portrays Swan, Jennifer Morrison, is no longer a regular cast member, the beginning of season seven also gave us a look into CaptainSwan’s past as well as the events that took place after their nuptials.

#5: Claire & Jamie
“Outlander” (2014-)

“Outlander” truly has it all when it comes to a great TV show, from time travel to incredible period costumes to one of the most beloved romantic relationships to grace our screens. After being separated by both an ocean and several centuries, this couple finally managed to reunite in 2017. The end of the second season of “Outlander” saw Claire and Jamie in very different places, but in season three, which premiered in the fall of 2017, fans finally got the big reunion they had been waiting for. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the rest of the season goes well for these two!

#4: Damon & Elena
“The Vampire Diaries” (2009-17)

Considering Elena had been under a sleeping spell since the end of the sixth season of “The Vampire Diaries”, with actress Nina Dobrev having left the show, Delena shippers were genuinely unsure what the fate of their favorite couple would be when the show came to a close in 2017. Though their happy ending isn’t exactly a conventional one, fans still got to see Damon and Elena grow old together and live the life they always dreamed of. Even though these two spent most of 2017 apart, their eternity together pretty much makes up for it.

#3: Stiles & Lydia
“Teen Wolf” (2011-17)

The final season of MTV’s “Teen Wolf” was separated into two parts, and at the midseason finale which aired in January of 2017, fans finally got what they wanted when Lydia and Stiles got their big moment after oh so much anticipation. While the second part of the season didn’t feature the pair nearly as heavily, it was simply enough to know that they were together for the show’s ending. They had been classically acting out a will-they-won’t-they dynamic for several seasons, and this conclusions was all the satisfaction we needed.

#2: Jack & Rebecca
“This Is Us” (2016-)

These days, premium TV is readily available, and most critical attention has focused on shows from distributors like HBO, Hulu and Netflix rather than those from the old school networks. One show that took both critics and viewers by surprise though was NBC’s “This Is Us”. It’s a show that takes viewers on an emotional roller coaster, making them shed both tears of misery and happiness in the very same episode. At the center of it all are Jack and Rebecca, parents to The Big Three and a couple who despite their ups and downs always leaves us feeling hopeful. Coming in at a close second for cutest couple on the show are Randall and Beth, who really give them a run for their money.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

Mon-El & Kara
“Supergirl” (2015-)

Klaus & Camille
“The Originals” (2013-)

Barry & Iris
“The Flash” (2014-)

#1: Betty & Jughead
“Riverdale” (2017-)

If you’re not watching this guilty pleasure TV show yet, we highly recommend you go binge it immediately. “Riverdale” is airing both of its first two seasons in 2017 after the creators moved quickly to produce season two after the success of season one. Amidst the murder mystery afoot in this small down, the local teens find plenty of time to do what teens do best and get into a myriad of romantic entanglements. Our favorite pairing is the mismatched couple of good girl Betty and boy on the wrong side of the tracks Jughead. Nipping at their heels though are Archie and Veronica, who we knew had way too much tension to let things be.
