Top 10 Hilarious Monica Moments

WE KNOW how funny these moments are! Welcome to MsMojo and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 10 Hilarious Monica Moments.

For this list, we’re looking our favorite funny Monica moments. We’re excluding moments that made us happy cry like the proposal and her wedding.

#10: I KNOW!

Various Episodes

Monica’s high-strung, Type A personality is the reason that we love her, and her most commonly used catchphrase is a perfect exemplification of that. Used in a wide variety of situations throughout the series, Monica’s signature exclamation has the versatility to express pride, anger, happiness, or sadness alongside a wealth of other emotions. There is no single “I know” that stands out from the pack, because there are just so many great ones. We challenge you to use these two words without putting on at least a little bit of a Monica voice while doing it.

#9: Dating a MUCH Younger Guy

“The One with the Ick Factor”

All six “friends” spend a lot of time being single on the show, and we get to bear witness to the good, the bad, and the downright ugly parts of their dating life. In the show’s first season, Monica make the mistake of fibbing a little when telling her boyfriend her age, which ends up having catastrophic consequences. She knows that Ethan is younger than her, having claimed to be a senior in college, but after they make love for the first time (which turns out to be his first time ever) he reveals that he is in fact a senior, but in high school. Monica’s reaction is totally priceless.

#8: Dancing Monica: Before Weight Loss

Various Episodes

In the years since “Friends” has aired, there has been much discussion of the problematic nature of some of the series’ running gags, including the mockery of Monica’s weight. While there are many jokes about “fat Monica” that fall flat with modern audiences, her signature dance moves still stand the test of time. There is no moment where she seemed more joyful and unadulterated than in the non-canonical “One That Could Have Been” when viewers witnessed Monica in all her full-bodied glory, literally dancing like no one was watching. She definitely never seems as carefree or lighthearted in her post weight-loss body!

#7: When Monica Tried To Not Be As Clean

“The One With the Butt”

Monica’s borderline obsessive-compulsive tendencies and clean-freak nature are some of her funniest character traits. In this season one episode, Monica is trying to let loose a little and not worry about neatness so much. Of course, she isn’t quite able to curb her proclivities towards cleanliness and order. In a later episode, we get to see just how nuts Monica can be when she hears about the apartment of a woman Ross is dating. She’s so horrified by the state of it that she shows up and offers to clean the stranger’s place herself.

#6: It’s The Humidity

“The One in Barbados”

When the gang travels to Barbados for Ross’s big keynote speech, viewers learned a little something about Monica that had been previously unknown. Her normally sleek and shiny hair turns into a frizzy disaster when it encounters any humidity. With her new ‘do, she gets into an intense ping pong game with Mike, which is made all the funnier by her appearance. Her solution to the problem is to have her hair braided, which creates a whole new comedic angle when one of her braids ends up tangled in the shower curtain and she has to be rescued.

#5: I'm Breezy

“The One Where No One's Ready”

In a fan favorite episode, the gang is trying to prepare for a formal event, but for various reasons they’re having difficulty getting ready on time. Monica has recently broken up with Richard and gets a phone message from him, but can’t figure out if it’s new or old. In response, she decides to call him back and leave a message of her own. In an attempt to seem chill, she ends up coming off as the total opposite. It’s hard to watch this painfully awkward scene, although we can’t help but laugh at Monica’s attempts to seem “breezy.”

#4: Seducing Chandler While Sick

“The One with Rachel's Sister”

Monica’s competitive nature extends into her beliefs about wellness. So of course getting sick is not an option for her. Seeing illness as a sign of weakness, she refuses to admit that she has a cold and insists that she’s totally “fine.” To prove just how healthy she is, she tries to sleep with Chandler despite her clearly sickly appearance. Her methods of seduction are hilarious when paired with her stuffy nose and bathrobe. Of course, Chandler can’t resist her charms and in the end succumbs to her efforts.

#3: Do You Think He Knew I Was Here?

“The One with Ross's Wedding”

In one of the most shocking moments in the entire series, it’s revealed to the audience that Monica and Chandler have slept together. When Monica pops her head out from under the covers, viewers couldn’t help but gasp and laugh at the same time. This was the beginning of one of “Friends”’ most integral realtionships, but we didn’t know at the time that it was more than a one-time thing. So many funny moments came from this, and we’ll never forget the hilarious surprise of seeing these two in bed together.

#2: The Turkey

“The One with All the Thanksgivings”

When the “Friends” decide to revisit some of their worst Thanksgivings ever, fans were happy to be along for the ride. After seeing flashbacks of Thanksgivings past, we learn that in their younger years, Chandler called Monica fat, which was one of the things that spurred her on to lose weight. The following year, in an effort to get her revenge for his slight, she decides to seduce him with an end goal of making him feel as embarrassed as she felt. Things don’t exactly go as planned and Chandler ends up losing one of his toes. Back in the present, Monica’s method of apologizing will go down in history as one of the best “Friends” moments ever.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

Making Candy

“The One with All the Candy”

Singing Karaoke

“The One Where Monica Sings”

Her Thunder

“The One with Monica’s Thunder”

#1: Erogenous Zones

“The One with Phoebe's Uterus”

Before Monica and Chandler become an item, she gives him some friendly advice that undoubtedly comes in handy later in their relationship. Chandler is worried because he hasn’t yet slept with his girlfriend, Cathy, and has some performance anxiety due to her previous dating history. Monica, always ready to lend a hand, decides to show him the ropes to ensure that their first time together is unforgettable. She ends up getting absorbed in her own lesson and gives an enthusiastic performance that leaves little to the imagination. After all, what are friends for?
