Top 10 Funniest Encanto Moments

Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Funniest Encanto Moments

For this list, we’ll be looking at the most humorous moments from this magical animated Disney movie.

Which “Encanto” moment made you laugh the most? Let us know in the comments.

#10: Bruno’s Riveting Telenovela

Living in solitude for so long, with only rodents for company, Bruno had to get creative with his entertainment. And he shows Mirabel - and us - the fruit of his labors. We see what appears to be a nod to a famous 1990 World Cup match between West Germany and Colombia, as well as a game show. But the funniest part of all is his telenovela. If you’re well-acquainted with the genre, you’ll know that the storyline he describes wouldn’t be amiss in an authentic Latinx soap opera. His dramatic plot is nothing short of captivating, so it’s a good thing Antonio saves the cast from becoming animal chow. Needless to say, the accuracy and detail in Bruno’s story make this moment absolutely hilarious.

#9: The Gift of Denial

During the dynamic opening number, Mirabel frantically tries to avoid revealing that she doesn’t have a gift. Unfortunately, though, her efforts end up being in vain. Dolores bursts that bubble, and the brutal delivery she gets right after just pours salt in the wound. Even so, Mirabel tries to stay optimistic, though the vibe among the town kids has now changed. As she insists that she’s just as unique as any Madrigal, we see her family members impressively using their gifts to prepare for Antonio’s party. This sight doesn’t win Mirabel any points with her small followers, and she’s offered an amusingly sassy reality check instead!

#8: Like Father, Like Son

Camilo’s shape-shifting gift provides plenty of comedy. But it also gives us some heartwarming moments. The two come together when he uses his gift to ease his little brother Antonio’s nerves ahead of the latter’s gift ceremony. Camilo embodies a kid-sized version of their father Félix, comically mimicking his voice and all. While we think the impression is pretty spot-on, their dad seems less amused. As he ushers the family out, Camilo leaves his brother with an even funnier parting shot. And if Félix wasn’t entertained before, he seems even more miffed now. But at least it puts a smile on Antonio’s face - and makes the audience laugh-out-loud!

#7: Coffee Lover

We’re all familiar with Juancho, the caffeinated kid, right? But did you notice that “The Family Madrigal” isn’t the only time he’s seen holding a cup of joe? It’s actually a central part of his personality, which is a recipe for hilarity. At Antonio’s party, he’s back on the brew, and in a later scene, he doesn’t even put the mug down while kicking around a ball. When Mirabel, Abuela, and Bruno are headed back to reunite with the rest of the family, we see him yet again, drink in hand. He also fuels up before getting to work on the new Casita. And you thought you couldn’t get through the day without caffeine!

#6: A Flight Risk

At Luisa’s advice, Mirabel pays a visit to Bruno’s tower, a decision she soon regrets. After learning that Casita can’t help her, she’s grateful for the winged companion who shows up. It’s a long, uphill journey, but at least it appears the “two can” embark on it together. Only it leaves pretty much instantly, choosing to meet her at the finish line instead. But as any Disney fan knows, even the most arduous task can be made easier if you sing your way through it. So Mirabel sets off singing “The Family Madrigal,” only with several hilarious changes as the journey becomes more tiresome. She then reunites with the toucan, who quickly realizes this mission is not for him and bails.

#5: Camilo’s Unexpected Baby Head

Camilo’s portrayed as the joker of the family thanks to his shapeshifting abilities. However, it’s often the moments where he’s not in control of his gift that provide the most hilarity. Take the proposal dinner, for instance. Chaos ensues when the family learns of Bruno’s vision. In his shock, Camilo’s head transforms, and he’s left sporting a baby’s face - with a mustache to boot! It’s quite a sight to behold. It gets even funnier when the baby head reappears later, sans facial hair, but complete with tiny hands and a high-pitched voice to match. It’s some great physical comedy to undercut some otherwise dramatic moments.

#4: The Fall to Nowhere

After the dinner from hell, Mirabel follows the rats into Casita’s walls. While chasing after Bruno, she finds herself hanging over an endless sea of darkness. Bruno comes to her rescue, but it’s soon him who needs saving — or so we’re led to believe. As Mirabel hilariously shrieks in fear at the sight of a rat, she lets go of him. And we learn that the fall wasn’t quite as far as they expected. With a quick wave of his poncho, Bruno clears the scene before trying to make an awkward and swift exit. We didn’t see this coming any more than they did, and every rewatch is just as hysterical as the first.

#3: An A-Mule-Sing Ensemble

Luisa’s arguably one of the most hardworking Madrigals. Indeed, we see how valuable she is to her village, especially when there are buildings to move or donkeys to round up. It turns out that the creatures also form a great ensemble, as we see during “Surface Pressure.” You’ll spot them in the audience during the Battle of Cerberus, recreating a scene from “Titanic,” and featuring as unicorns during the dreamy fantasy segment. The donkeys also serve as her back-up dancers, showing off some serious moves. And those are just some of their comical appearances. No matter where they show up, they’re always an ass-et.

#2: The Chaotic Proposal

Those are famous last words, as they say. In light of Mirabel’s newfound knowledge, Isabela’s proposal dinner is a recipe for disaster. Indeed, things go wildly off the rails. It all begins with a badly-timed bowl of avocado that breaks Mirabel and Dolores’ stare-down. After that, pretty much anything that could go wrong does. Camilo’s uncontrollable shapeshifting, Casita’s extending cracks, and Isabela’s reaction are just some examples of how. To top it all off, the doors swing open to reveal a group of well-wishers outside. There’s plenty to laugh about already, but Señora Guzmán’s words in the back of our minds make the unfolding chaos even funnier.

#1: Bruno’s Alter Egos

If the last couple of years have taught us anything, it’s that solitude can make you feel a little kooky. But it can also unlock your creativity. And it appears that while living in isolation, Bruno’s honed his “real gift” — acting. Mirabel isn’t quite sure how to react when he introduces her to the fearless Hernando and bucket-headed Jorge. But his performance is so hilariously sincere that we can’t help but chuckle. Jorge even reappears when the family rebuilds Casita. No matter how many times we watch “Encanto,” this moment will always have the gift of making us laugh out loud.
