Top 10 Celebs You Didn't Know Were on International Dancing with the Stars

Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Celebs You Didn’t Know Were on International Dancing with the Stars

For this list, we’ll be looking at the most notable famous folks who chose to flex their dancing skills outside of the U.S.

Are you aware of any other celebs who went international? Let us know in the comments.

#10: Michelle Visage
“Strictly Come Dancing” (2004-)

With “Drag Race” making its U.K. debut in 2019, Michelle Visage traded out her judging shoes for dancing ones during “Strictly’s” 17th season. Paired with Giovanni Pernice, she moved her way through to week nine. Although she was a consistently strong performer, it was her “Halloween Week” foxtrot to “The Addams Family Theme” that proved she was one to watch. Her final dance took place in the iconic Blackpool Tower. Moving to Madonna’s “Vogue”, she dedicated her performance to the LGBTQ+ community. It may have marked the end of her Strictly journey, but at least she sashayed away in style.

#9: Jerry Hall
“Strictly Come Dancing” (2004-)

This model and actress joined season 10 back in 2012. Sadly, her dances often left the audience and judges rather unimpressed. She barely moved, leaving her partner Anton Du Beke to do most of the work. Hall actually admitted that she did the bare minimum each week to prepare. She also said that her kids were surprised that she’d agreed to do the show at all, calling her “a bit lazy”. It’s since been said that she didn’t really enjoy the experience. After three incredibly lackluster performances, Hall was finally put out of her misery.

#8: Pamela Anderson
“Danse avec les Stars” (2011-)

You might recall seeing her on the U.S. version of the show in seasons 10 and 15. But the former Playboy model seems to be making it her mission to appear on as many international versions of the program as possible. She had to withdraw from Argentina's “Bailando” in 2011, but also appeared on the Israeli version of the series as a guest judge and one-off performer. In 2018, she proceeded to join the French line-up. This time, she made it all the way to “Week 7: Michael Jackson Night”. Perhaps the mirrorball trophy still awaits her elsewhere in the world!

#7: Kim Hyo-yeon
“Dancing with the Stars” (2011-)

Before reaching international stardom, this singer was on season two of the show’s South Korean edition. Hyoyeon was already renowned for her dancing skills, so it was a match made in heaven. However, she admitted that dancing in such close proximity to another person would take some getting used to. But it wasn’t long until she felt comfortable with her dance partner, Kim Hyung-seok. In fact, the pair sailed through to the finals. Hyoyeon came just shy of getting the mirrorball, finishing in a very respectable second place. Of course, many of her fans believed that she should’ve won.

#6: Brigitte Nielsen
“Let’s Dance” (2006-)

She’s a model, actress, musician, and television personality. In 2010, this star added “Let’s Dance” contestant to her resume as well. Nielsen was the fourth to go on the German series. She tended to sit somewhere in the middle of the leaderboard, with the typically difficult rumba being her best dance. But her salsa failed to impress the judges, scoring just 20 out of a potential 40 points. Her paso doble left something to be desired as well. Nielsen is a woman of many talents, but dancing might not come to her quite as naturally as other things. At least she was having fun!

#5: Dita Von Teese
“Danse avec les Stars” (2011-)

In 2021, Dita Von Teese decided to trade burlesque for ballroom on France’s version of “Dancing with the Stars”. The challenge of learning new steps and styles aside, there was also a language barrier between the star and her partner Christophe Licata. Still, they let their moves do the talking, and it's served them extremely well. Their Argentine Tango was so impressive that it earned them “4 buzzes” from the judges, which is similar to when U.S. contestants win immunity. It seems like the “Queen of Burlesque” has a royal flair for the ballroom too.

#4: Courtney Act
“Dancing with the Stars” (2004-15; 2019-20; 2021-)

Courtney Act made history on season 16 of the Aussie dance show as one half of a same-sex pair. Performing as both her drag persona and Shane Jenek, Act and her partner Joshua Keefe never failed to wow audiences and judges alike. In fact, they topped the leaderboard for all but one week. Their tango was particularly exceptional for the beautiful way in which it deconstructed gender norms. So viewers were understandably shocked when Act finished as a runner-up. However, fans will be glad to hear that the star will get a second chance at victory, as she’s slated to join the show’s 2022 “All Stars” lineup.

#3: Emma Bunton
“Strictly Come Dancing” (2004-)

Unlike some of her former bandmates, this Spice Girl played for the home team, participating in “Strictly Come Dancing” in 2006. Paired with Darren Bennett, she got off to a strong start, scoring 33 out of 40 on her inaugural dance. And her numbers impressively remained in the 30s from then on. But despite her sound technique and high marks, she landed in the bottom a few times, and was ultimately sent home. Still, Emma made it all the way to the semi-finals, and gave U.K. audiences plenty of memorable performances along the way.

#2: Michelle Williams
“Strictly Come Dancing” (2004-)

Best known for being one-third of legendary girl group “Destiny’s Child”, this American singer crossed the pond to compete in “Strictly’s” eighth season back in 2010. Partnered with Brendan Cole, Michelle Williams danced all the way to week seven. The star’s leaderboard placements reflected somewhat average performances, with her Waltz being her highest scoring dance. Despite her best efforts, Williams found herself in the bottom two a whopping four times throughout the course of the competition. Though her will was undeniable, the performer’s luck ran out after an underwhelming paso doble, and she was eliminated.

#1: Chris Hemsworth
“Dancing with the Stars” (2004-15; 2019-20; 2021-)

Long before he ever lifted Thor’s hammer, Chris Hemsworth took a spin on the dance floor. At the time, he was best known in Australia as Kimberly Hyde on “Home and Away”. Despite his two left feet, the actor placed fifth on the show in 2006. Funnily enough, the experience nearly prevented him from getting the part of Thor. When his dance videos made their way around the Marvel offices, the studio president worried that fans wouldn’t be into a dancing God of Thunder. Luckily, everything worked out. But we reckon Thor should probably just stick to Avenging from now on.
