As 2019 comes to a close, we’re looking back at some of our favorite big screen romances. Welcome to MsMojo and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 10 Movie Couples of 2019.

For this list, we’re looking at the standout romantic pairings from 2019 films. A spoiler warning is now in effect!

#10: Kate & Tom
“Last Christmas” (2019)

There are plenty of great holiday themed romantic comedies out there, but it seems like it has been a while since we got a new one. In 2019, we were treated to “Last Christmas”, starring “Game of Thrones”’s Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding of “Crazy Rich Asians” fame. The movie was co-written by none other than Emma Thompson and tells the story of Kate, a troubled young woman who works as an elf at a Christmas shop in London year round. When she meets Tom, it seems like her life is finally set to change. While the rom-com itself didn’t receive the best reviews, Clarke and Golding are still extremely likeable and managed to bring out the magic of the holiday season.

#9: Natasha Kingsley & Daniel Bae
“The Sun Is Also a Star” (2019)

The film adaptation of Nicola Yoon’s YA novel “The Sun Is Also a Star” may have been a box office bomb and the recipient of pretty mixed reviews from critics, but that didn’t make us fall in love with it any less. The drama tells the story of two teens, Natasha and Daniel, who meet by chance in New York just as Natasha and her family are being deported from the United States. Their romance unfolds over the course of the day, with the threat of them being separated looming the entire time. Throughout the movie, Daniel is performing a test to see if he can make Natasha fall in love with him, and you’d better bet it works.

#8: Jenny Young & Nate Davis
“Someone Great” (2019)

Not all great love stories have happy endings. In the Netflix rom com “Someone Great”, we meet Jenny right as she and her boyfriend of nine years are breaking up. While most of the movie takes place after their relationship has already ended, we’re treated to frequent flashbacks showing us their love story from beginning to end. We’re rooting for them the entire time because they seem so right for each other, even when things get tough. In the end, this is a movie about loving yourself and not someone else, but that doesn’t stop us from wishing this had somehow ended another way.

#7: Tessa Young & Hardin Scott
“After” (2019)

Not quite YA but not quite not YA, Anna Todd’s 2014 novel “After” started off as steamy One Direction fan fiction and has been called the “50 Shades of Grey” for the younger generation. Because of its success, it made sense that it would end up on the big screen, and fans fell even harder for Tessa and Hardin once they were fully realized for the film. Tessa is the stereotypical “good girl” who has yet to lose her virginity and Hardin is the bad boy ready to corrupt her purity. Their relationship is a very sensual one, so this is definitely a movie you don’t want to somehow end up watching with your parents.

#6: Sasha Tran & Marcus Kim
“Always Be My Maybe” (2019)

Sasha and Marcus were childhood neighbors and besties growing up in San Francisco before they eventually get it on as teenagers and their friendship quickly deteriorates. They end up in each other’s lives again years later when Sasha is a famous celebrity chef and Marcus is still living with his aging father. While their lives may be completely different, their old chemistry comes back almost immediately. While there are some bumps along the way (including a hysterical cameo from Keanu Reeves), it’s clear that these two were always meant to be.

#5: Mal & Ben
“Descendants 3” (2019)

At the beginning of “Descendants 3”, Ben finally proposes to Mal, and while she of course says yes, they didn’t jump straight to a happy ending because of Audrey’s involvement. In the end, they managed to work it all out, keeping us enthralled and entertained the entire way. While many fans hoped they’d get to see these two get married in the third installment of this series, we were happy to at least see them setting off on their happily ever after. While Mal and Ben had been favorite for a while, we were also happy to see romance blooming between Evie and Doug in “Descendants 3”.

#4: Columbus & Wichita
“Zombieland: Double Tap” (2019)

Ten years after the original “Zombieland” was released, we finally got a sequel to the post-apocalyptic horror flick that brought us back to our favorite characters a decade later. In the first movie, we meet Columbus (played by Jesse Eisenberg) and Wichita (played by Emma Stone) as they start their romance. In the follow up, Columbus wants to get married but Wichita isn’t sure she wants to settle down. But you can probably guess how this one ends. They really did manage to find love in a hopeless place!

#3: Tony Stark & Pepper Potts
“Avengers: Endgame” (2019)

There’s no debate that “Avengers: Endgame” was the biggest film of the year, considering it also managed to break records to become the highest grossing movie of all time. And while you may think that because it’s a superhero movie there’s no room for romance, you’re wrong on this one. Not only is there the heartwarming culmination of Captain America and Peggy Carter’s decades-long love story, where he uses time travel to live out life with her, but there’s also the tragic love story of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. Their tale came to an end when Tony sacrificed himself to save the others, and their farewell was almost too much for us to bear.

#2: Peter Parker & MJ
“Spider-Man Far From Home” (2019)

Have there been too many Spider Man movies in the last two decades? Yes. Does that mean we’re sick of seeing the love story between Peter Parker and his various girlfriends unfold? Absolutely not. Zendaya plays the love interest this time around and while she goes by MJ, she is not the Mary Jane that we have come to know and love. She’s a student who goes to school with Peter and who he falls for, and by the end of the movie they’ve made things official. This couple feels so 2019, and we truly can’t get enough of them.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

Woody & Bo Peep
“Toy Story 4” (2019)

Ben Hanscom & Beverly Marsh
“It Chapter Two” (2019)

Princess Jasmine & Aladdin
“Aladdin” (2019)

Gabriela Diaz & Jake Taylor
“Falling Inn Love” (2019)

#1: Stella Grant & Will Newman
“Five Feet Apart” (2019)

If teens were looking for the next “The Fault in Our Stars,” they got it in 2019 with “Five Feet Apart” starring Cole Sprouse and Haley Lu Richardson. The story is about two young people living with cystic fibrosis, which stops them from being physically close to one another because of the risk of cross-infection. It’s a classic tale of star-crossed lovers for the modern day, with an ending that is just as tragic as the dramas that came before it. If you want a good cry, this is a move you won’t want to miss.
