Welcome to WatchMojo, and today, we’re counting down the anime that have yet to be released, but have the potential to be some of the year’s best.
#10: “Tojima Tanzaburo Wants to Be a Kamen Rider” (2025)
Given how much of a cultural phenomenon Kamen Rider has been for the last fifty years, it only makes sense that the average fan would want to emulate their heroic actions, flashy poses and take down some bad guys with a flying kick. Enter Tojima Tanzaburo, a forty-year-old man still clinging to his childhood dream of becoming like his masked idol, only for him to get the chance when he, along with other adults going through similar midlife crises, find themselves taking on actual threats from the world of Kamen Rider. Prepare to feel your age and celebrate your fandom in equal measure!
#9: “Sanda” (2025)
Did someone say ultra-violent Santa Claus? Because we got ultra-violent Santa Claus up in here, and it looks metal as hell. Upon discovering that he’s a descendent of jolly old St Nick, a young student finds himself gaining the power to shift into the embodiment of Christmas, only instead of presents he’s straight up giving out hands. Given that it’s been crafted by the team who gave us Dandadan, and the source material stemmed from the mad lass who gave us Beastars, there’s every chance this is going to be a wild ride. Get ready for festive cheer with a side of ass-whooping!
#8: “Kingdom” Season Six (2025)
It’s been beloved for its intricate plotting, representation of historical warfare, and a cast caught between politics and ambition. And it’s still not getting as much love as it should. If you can push on through the rough patches of its 3D animation in the first season, you’ll find yourself easily hooked, which is handy given that this latest season looks like it’s going all out as the war for the unification of Qin gets underway! Don’t underestimate our boy Xin!
#7: “Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray” Part Two (2025)
The horse girl domination continues, and leading the charge is this silver haired maiden and her calves of thunder. While she may not have been able to score first place in part one, Oguri Cap remains undeterred in her goal to perfect her speed. Needless to say, this anime has been off to the races since its debut and not slowed down for one second. It may not have reached the mania of the gatcha game, but given the amount of potential rivals just waiting for Oguri to compete against, there’s no chance this follow-up doesn’t deliver. Hopefully they’ll find time in-between the races to pay homage to Haru Urara.
#6: “Gintama: 3-Z Ginpachi Sensei” (2025)
Odd Jobs Gin are back! We never thought we would see the day. Granted this is a spin-off as opposed to anything linked to the main canon, taking that all too familiar trope of the cast operating inside of a high school in an alternative universe. What makes it so exciting is that this is Gintama we’re talking about, pure and simple. These are the guys who perfected the art of parodying every anime trope known to man, not to mention smashing apart the fourth wall. Can’t wait to see what kind of crazy curriculum we’re in for with this one.
#5: “To Your Eternity” Season Three (2025)
Fushi’s everlasting journey continues throughout the ages, and now it seems he’s finally heading into the modern era. While the first season was as reflective as it was heartwrenching, the second veered towards that of a swashbuckling adventure. And now? Fushi’s tackling the trials, terrors and technology of a world that vastly resembles our own. How does an ageless being handle the threats of both the Nokkers and humankind, who have each evolved in ways that Fushi can barely comprehend? Likely with messy results…
#4: “Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc” (2025)
Whatever your thoughts on the modern trend of stuffing entire anime arcs into movie form, this is one you’re not going to want to miss. Going from a homeless tool bereft of all kindness and comfort, all the way to a demon hybrid on the leash of Public Safety, Denji’s life has been one bloody mess after another, and now it’s about to get turned on its head with the introduction of Reze, a dangerously beautiful woman who seems to have fallen for his unorthodox charm. Throw in the arrival of the infamous Bomb Devil, and you’ve got a recipe for what might just be Chainsaw Man’s most explosive outing so far. Pun included.
#3: “My Hero Academia” Final Season (2025)
It’s hard to believe it’s finally here. Izuku Midoriya’s humble origins from fanboy to pro-hero fighting for the sake of the known world has been filled with countless highs and lows, and now it’s all come down to this - one last clash against the terrible yet tormented villain Shigaraki. Alongside All Might’s last, desperate struggle against the rejuvenated All for One, the Final Season is setting itself up to be quite the showdown, where the paragons of good and evil duke it out once and for all. It may have stumbled along the way, but it’s great to see one of modern shonen’s most famous juggernauts get such a glorious send off.
#2: “Spy x Family” Season Three (2025)
Anya’s back! Let the chaos commence! Following their less than peaceful getaway on a cruise, the Forger family have finally returned home, which means Operation Stryx is back in business. As Anya continues to use her telekinetic powers to aid her unknowing spy of a father in his mission for peace, it looks like she’s got a fair few hurdles of her own ahead to overcome…namely grades, the student body, and her inability to stay out of trouble. Will we finally get to see her climb the academy’s hierarchy? Will Loid and Yor take another step towards becoming the most adorable yet dangerous couple in anime? Either way, the laughs and body piles will be plentiful.
#1: “One Punch Man” Season Three (2025)
It seems like a lifetime since Saitama got a chance to flex his fists, but from the looks of things, his threequel is finally on route, and with it the destruction of Hero Society as they know it, courtesy of the Hero Hunter Garou. From the looks of things, we’re finally going to get to see the strongest man in the world take on the human monster looking to expose and erase its innate cruelty and hypocrisy. All we can do is hope that this adaptation leans a little closer to what made season one so special as opposed to what made season two a step backwards.
