Berlin’s climate is affected by its geographical position. The eastern European continental climate combined with air masses from the Atlantic Ocean makes for reasonably fresh and humid weather. Temperatures in Berlin are far from extreme, with relatively mild summers and winters.

Summers in Berlin are agreeably warm. Average high temperatures hover in the low- to mid-twenties Celsius, or low- to mid-seventies Fahrenheit. However, temperatures exceeding 30°C or 86°F are not unheard of during the summer’s hottest months. Lows can be in the mid-teens Celsius, or mid-fifties Fahrenheit, so be sure to prepare for fluctuations in temperature. July and August are the warmest months, however they are also unpredictable in terms of precipitation. A sunny day can quickly turn rainy. Because the city center is building-dense, temperatures in this area can reach up to 4°C, or 7°F higher in that area.

Winter temperatures stay close to the freezing mark, and during this period the skies are infamously gray. Snowfall is possible between December and March; however it tends to melt fairly quickly.

Whether you choose the springtime to sit at an outdoor café, the autumn to view the foliage, or any other time of the year, Berlin boasts pleasant weather whenever you go.
