Mega Man has popped up in a lot of games over the years, but these 10 are the coolest! For this list, we'll be looking at instances where the "Mega Man" series was referenced in other games. Our list includes "Devil May Cry V" (2019), "Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure" (2007), "Enter the Gungeon" (2016), "Super Mario Maker" (2015), and more! Which cameo of the Blue Bomber is your favorite? Show us your love for the bot with the Mega Buster in the comments below!

“Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS & Wii U” (2014)

Let’s get the obvious one out of the way. After Sonic had made his way into “Brawl” (alongside Snake from “Metal Gear Solid”), many of us had wondered if it was possible to see more guest fighters in a future “Smash” game. Mega Man was the confirmation we needed, having been one of the very first characters revealed at the time of “Smash 4’s” announcement. Director Masahiro Sakurai honored the Blue Bomber in the best way possible, translating several of the coolest Robot Master abilities into Mega Man’s moveset. Spark Needle, Leaf Shield, Crash Bomber, and Metal Blade all make for sick abilities, and his Final Smash was a perfect way to honor the long history of the “Mega Man” franchise.

“Street Fighter V” (2016)

Just a heads up, Mega Man has some affinity for fighting games, so be prepared because “Street Fighter V” isn’t the last one on here. Though he wasn’t able to stand alongside Ryu like he did in the “Marvel vs. Capcom” games or even be a background character like in “Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter”, Mega Man was acknowledged in a special set of costumes in “Street Fighter V”. Ryu could dress like the Blue Bomber himself while Sakura donned a cosplay of Roll. As for Balrog and Rashid, they became creepy humanoid versions of Guts Man and Air Man respectively.

“Monster Hunter” series (2004-)

Honestly, it was a tad unsurprising to see “Mega Man” get thrown into Capcom’s massive “Monster Hunter” series as it's almost become an expectation at this point considering how many times they’ve done so. Still, it’s cool to see how they do it every time. In “Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate”, players could equip their Palico companions with Mega Man’s suit and a weapon inspired by faithful dog companion Rush. Speaking of which, “Monster Hunter Rise” allows players to replace their Canynes with Rush, complete with various transformations to aid you in your expeditions.

“Devil May Cry V” (2019)

The Mega Buster has become an easy way for Capcom to continuously honor the Blue Bomber whenever they so desire. The same goes for some indie games as we’ll see soon. However, one of the coolest renditions comes in “Devil May Cry V”. As a DLC weapon for Nero, the Mega Buster comes with more bells and whistles than just firing off energy pellets. When equipped, Nero’s animations will change as well. He’ll jump like Mega Man, teleport in like Mega Man, slide dash instead of dodge roll, and even cause Nero to leave a blue particle trail behind him when fully charged! Even if you’re more of a DMC fan, you gotta admit this was sick!

“Enter the Gungeon” (2016)

One of the fun aspects in “Enter the Gungeon” is discovering the dozens of weapons hidden throughout the game. Squirt guns, t-shirt cannons, and explosive fish barrels are fun and all, but Mega Man fans were probably losing it over the Megahand weapon! At first, the Megahand is nothing more than a neat nod to the action platformer franchise. However, there’s more enjoyment to be had than its gunshots of “bweeps”. When certain items are equipped, the Megahand can evolve into seven other, more powerful versions of itself. Fire off deadly bubbles, boomerangs, explosives, blades, and more! It’s basically a huge love letter to “Mega Man 2”.

“Mario Kart 8” (2014)

When amiibos launched, they brought with them a buffet of new content to “Mario Kart 8” in the form of racing outfits for Miis. Along with some of the other guest characters from “Smash Bros”, Mega Man was honored with a racing outfit of his own. …Okay, it’s basically just his suit, but for us “Mega Man” fans, it's all we could have asked for. Now, we could skirt around corners across the Mushroom Kingdom while humming tunes from another world.

“Super Mario Maker” (2015)

As they could with a handful of other “Smash Bros” guest characters, players could unlock a Mega Man costume for Mario by scanning the Blue Bomber’s amiibo. Of course, this has prompted many “Mario Maker” players to recreate classic “Mega Man” stages. As cool as this is, it may become somewhat of a visual nightmare for you. Taunting will emit the classic Mega Buster shooting sounds, but remember - this is only a costume, a costume in a MARIO game. So, try not to forget which game you’re playing here!

“Street Fighter X Tekken” (2012)

This has got to be the strangest version we’ve seen of our beloved robot boy. Don’t worry - we get the joke here. This isn’t Mega Man as in “the short blue dude we’ve grown used to seeing in the games”. No, this is Mega Man as in “the weird middle-aged guy on the cover art of the original game”. Even if they had gone with the version everyone knows and loves, it was still kind of odd to see Mega Man in here, too. Wasn’t the focus of this game supposed to be mainly “Street Fighter” and “Tekken”? And now, Pac-Man’s here, too!? Well, why don’t we just throw Mario in for the lols and just make it “Smash Bros”?

“Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure” (2007)

Oh, Zack and Wiki, you two deserved so much better than just being a Wii game. In case you’ve never heard of this, “Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure” was a puzzle-adventure game where a young pirate boy and his flying monkey sailed seas and explored islands for treasure. Of course, being a Capcom-published game, the devs had to show their love for “Mega Man” somehow. In addition to two treasures referencing the 1Up sprites for Mega Man and X, the boss fight against Bonelich plays a familiar tune. Yep, it's the theme to the first Wily Stage in “Mega Man 2”!

“Dead Rising” series (2006-17)

You didn’t think we’d forget about “Dead Rising”, did you? With as many “Mega Man” references as these games are packed with, we could never forget about mowing down zombies with a plastic toy version of the Mega Buster. And that isn’t the only Mega Man item to toy around with! You can also dress up in a goofy outfit based on the Blue Bomber, wear a helmet shaped like a Servbot, smash enemies in the head with the Servbot helmet, or find the real Mega Buster and lay waste to all the zombies. It’s a riot for anyone who loves bullying zombies and Mega Man.
