Inspired by comedic legends Bill Cosby and Richard Pryor, he began to perform comedy routines as a teenager. After countless auditions, he got his big break as a regular actor on Saturday Night Live, which launched his acting career with a lead role in the feature film 48 Hours. In short order, he became a box-office superstar due to his role as detective Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop. Later, he starred as more than one character in the films Coming to America and as The Nutty Professor.
