I know a ton of people who swear by the Netherlands as a travel destination. Most of these people weren’t cosmopolitan, Pinot-drinking Prada-wearing city-dwellers as much as they were more green, grass-rootsy buds of mine who like bicycling a whole lot. The culture of the Netherlands differs from region to region, but it is well-known that the Dutch people showcase a willingness to adopt certain characteristics of exotic cultures, while preserving their own identity. Traditional to the culture of the Netherlands are tulips and sweeping flower gardens, windmills, blue and white pottery called Delftware, and wooden craft work such as clogs or boats. The ‘Heineken Experience’ has reopened in Amsterdam after a year of renovations.  One of the most popular attractions in the Dutch city with young adults, the new museum offers a tour that shows visitors different sides of production, and history.  At one point, visitors can even find out what it’s like to be on a beer production line.  And of course, the tour ends off in a bar stocked with, you guessed it, Heineken.  Read more… continue reading...
