Top 5 Fact Need to Know Facts About the New Bachelorette: Rachel Lindsay

Season thirteen of this reality favorite is going to be groundbreaking. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 5 Need to Know Facts About The New Bachelorette: Rachel Lindsay.

For this list, we’re looking at fun and interesting pieces of info about The Bachelorette’s newest leading lady.

#5: She's Making History as the First Black Bachelorette

The “Bachelor” franchise may not exactly be praised for its racial diversity, but as of 2017, we’re finally getting a woman of color heading her own season. When Rachel appeared on the first episode of season 21 of The Bachelor, she stood out from the pack from the start, winning the first impression rose and being the first black contestant to ever receive it. She was the third to last lady standing in Nick Viall’s season. Also, Rachel is breaking barriers when it comes to age this season, since at 31 years old, she is the oldest Bachelorette to date.

#4: She's a Successful Lawyer

The Bachelor hasn’t always put the careers of its contestants at the forefront, including such dubious titles as “Socialite” “Dog Lover” “WWE Diva-in-Training” and (we kid you not) “Chicken Enthusiast”. This powerhouse Bachelorette however has a pretty legitimate career as a lawyer. She studied at University of Texas at Austin and got her law degree in 2011 from Marquette University Law School. Rachel Lindsay came from a family of lawyers, and now lives and works in Dallas as a civil defense litigation attorney at Cooper & Scully.

#3: She Has a Lot of Bachelor Alum Fans

Rachel is already a fan favorite and is beloved among Bachelor Nation viewers, but she also has a lot of former contestants on her side. Many ex Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants like Ashley I, Amanda Stanton and Ben Higgins have expressed their enthusiasm about the newest Bachelorette lead. Even her former beau, Nick Viall, has positive things to say about her and is supportive of her Bachelorette journey. Rachel has a famous fan as well- actress Jennifer Aniston picked her as a potential winner early on in the process, before her “Bachelor” season had even started.

#2: She's a Big Sports Fan

The latest Bachelorette already has an in with the guys- she loves sports. We’re not sure there’s anything a man likes more than a woman who is smart, beautiful and can talk about the latest NFL draft, so this lady’s got the full package. Before earning her law degree, Rachel Lindsay got her BA in Sports Management, and in law school, she concentrated on sports law. And it’s not just a professional pursuit, in her personal time she considers herself a big Dallas Cowboys fan.

#1: Her Co-Workers Signed her Up for The Show

While many contestants on the Bachelor and Bachelorette have been huge fans of the show before becoming part of it themselves, Rachel Lindsay is one notable exception. She says her workplace has always had Bachelor viewing parties that she would sometimes attend, but that it wasn’t exactly her thing. She even said that she “never understood what was going on.” In fact, she didn’t even opt to apply for “The Bachelor” herself. It was her co-workers who created her application for her in hopes that she would be interested.
