Top 10 Street Fighter Moves

Ready? FIGHT! Join WatchMojo.com as we count down our picks for the Top 10 Street Fighter Moves.

For this list, we're ranking the most effective, memorable and iconic special moves from the classic Capcom fighting game franchise. Special moves from all characters across the series will be considered for inclusion, however ultra combos such as Akuma's Raging Demon will have to be saved for another day and another list.

#10: Spiral Arrow
Cammy

Cammy White's position as a member of the British Special Forces group "Delta Red," makes her a particularly deadly adversary, with an even more particular set of effective martial arts skills. That being said, One of her most effective abilities comes in the form of her Spiral Arrow, a move where she lunges at her opponent in a corkscrew spinning attack, and goes straight for their legs. More effectively because of the move’s low position to the ground, the agent is able to pass underneath certain projectiles when performing this attack. Stylish, sexy and deadly? That's Cammy in a nutshell.

#9: Yoga Flame
Dhalsim

Narrowly edging out Dhalsim's projectile attack known as Yoga Fire, the Indian mystic known as Dhalsim has one other spicy attack under his yellow wristbands. Dhalsim's Yoga Flame is a close quarters attack, one which can burn his enemy at a moment's notice with an immense burst of searing fire. The Yoga Master inhales deeply and, shouting out the attack by name, emits a fireball of a much larger intensity than its Yoga Fire cousin, despite Yoga Flame's lack of long distance capability.

#8: Spinning Piledriver
Zangief

We don't wanna mess with this Russian. Zangief may be one of the slowest characters in the "Street Fighter" franchise, but he more than makes up for his lack of speed and dexterity with his immense, daunting physical strength. No special move makes better use of this power than the Spinning Piledriver, where Zangief grabs holds of his opponent and launches himself straight up in the air, before corkscrewing down and dropping his victim down on the head. The Spinning Piledriver needs close quarters in order to be properly set up, and can be difficult to execute, but the damage it delivers more than makes this special move worth the wait.

#7: Flash Kick
Guile

Badass American G.I. Guile can hit you out of nowhere with this special maneuver, which also happens to be one of the classic fan favorite attacks from the franchise. The Flash Kick is simple, but oh so effective, as Guile somersaults in a manner almost akin to that of a soccer kick, flipping backwards and allowing his government issued boots to execute a vicious smash to his opponent's face. The Flash Kick is so fast and effective, that it even leaves a bright residual gleam in its wake, while all of Guile's opponents are left reeling in pain.

#6: Electric Thunder
Blanka

This shocking special move arrives courtesy of the wild Brazilian beast-man known as Blanka, and strikes opponents with a blasting burst of electricity sent from Blanka's very core. Electric Thunder is primarily a defensive move, however, as it requires Blanka to remain stationary as he crouches down and discharges the numbing electricity from his body. Hope you’ve got quick fingers, because the amount of charge is dependent on how fast you can mash the buttons This special move does leaves Blanka vulnerable to projectile attacks, although only a very small portion of the Brazilian's body is able to be hit physically, making Electric Thunder the perfect defense against close quarters offense.

#5: Spinning Bird Kick
Chun-Li

This Chinese beauty has remained an enduring face of the franchise for years. As such, Chun-Li possesses an arsenal of iconic special moves, with her Spinning Bird Kick perhaps serving as one of her most effective. This gravity defying maneuver involves Chun-Li turning upside-down like a helicopter, while spinning forward with her legs in a kicking motion, annihilating all opponents in her wake. Although the Spinning Bird Kick's forward motion isn't the fastest, this special move can prove particularly useful if delivered when relatively close to an opponent.

#4: Psycho Crusher
M. Bison

A megalomaniacal villain with the physical stature of M. Bison deserves an equally imposing special move, and the Psycho Crusher does not disappoint. The dictatorial Bison charges up with powerful kinetic energy before surrounding himself in said energy and spinning forward in a torpedo motion against his enemy. The Psycho Crusher's combination of speed and power makes it an especially devastating maneuver against virtually anyone, and Bison can deliver it from just about anywhere, making it one of the most dangerous "Street Fighter" special moves from one dangerous "Street Fighter" boss.

#3: Hundred Hand Slap
E. Honda

If one slap doesn't do it, then Edmund Honda has ninety-nine more where that came from. This savage sumo's Hundred Hand Slap is exactly what its title states: a slapping assault of palm strikes with tons of speed, but without any mercy. The end effect is similar to Chun-Li's Lightning Kick, in that the Hundred Hand Slap can strike an opponent multiple times when delivered close-up, the limits it places on movement can leave E. Honda susceptible to projectile attacks from a well-prepared enemy. Still, if executed quickly, the Hundred Hand Slap can effectively smack an opponent silly.

#2: Shoryuken
Ken, Ryu, Sakura, Akuma, Dan

This iconic move from the "Street Fighter" franchise translates into "Rising Dragon Fist," and is one of the few moves in the series to be shared amongst multiple characters. Friends Ryu and Ken were the first in the "Street Fighter" universe to popularize the Shoryuken, a quick and powerful jumping uppercut which can easily wear down an enemy's defenses with only a few strong connections. Variations on the Shoryuken would later be adopted by characters such as the comical Dan Hibiki, although the "Rising Dragon Fist" is most definitely a "Street Fighter" move of serious power.

Before we reveal our top Street Fighter move, here are a few honorable mentions!

Barcelona Attack
-Vega

Hurricane Kick
-Ken and Ryu

Blanka Ball
-Blanka

#1: Hadouken
Ken, Ryu, Sakura, Akuma, Dan

Was there ever any doubt? This long range attack has proven to be an enduring and immensely popular special move, not only amongst "Street Fighter" devotees, but of video game fans around the world. Multiple characters in the “Street Fighter” universe, including Ryu, Ken, Sakura and even … (sigh) Dan’s wimpy little version, utilize variants of the Hadouken. You also have other characters matching the Hadoken with their own projectiles such as Guile’s Sonic Boom, or Sagat’s Tiger Shot, making it the series' most ubiquitous special move.
