Top 10: Annoying Video Game Characters

All they do is annoy you, get in your way and ruin otherwise great games! Welcome to and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the top 10 annoying characters in a video game.

Number 10: Slippy Toad (Star Fox 64)

Kicking off our list is the mechanic of Team Star Fox. This frog spends the entirety of Star Fox 64 on life support. Completely unskilled at the stick of an Arwing, you’ll find yourself literally killing yourself to keep this suicidal pest alive. Even worse, when he actually does something right he is compelled to let you know.

Number 9: Tingle (The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask)

This middle-aged midget is obsessed with fairies. He also likes to wear green skin-tight clothes while he dances around the forest and rides red balloons. He may seem like an innocently strange character at first, but he soon gets under your skin as he ends every conversation with the magic words: “Kooloo-Limpah.” And there’s no avoiding him, as he sells you your Maps! Tingle somehow even managed to garner his own spin-off games.

Number 8: Lester (Lester The Unlikely)

It’s okay if you have never heard of this game before. It wasn’t good. This was mostly because of the inability to control the main character; a nerd trapped on an island that eventually rises up against an evil overlord. In real life, this guy would never make it past the first stage, he’s a complete wuss that’s afraid of everything, including turtles!

Number 7: Ashley Graham (Resident Evil 4)

This jailbait daughter of the President of the United States is nothing but a blemish on an otherwise perfect game. Not only does Leon have to constantly save her underage behind from zombie parasites, but she is completely unwilling to help out in any way, shape or form. Come on, you know that you would also love to respond to her cries for help with a grenade.

Number 6: Vanille (Final Fantasy XVIII)

Don’t let her good looks fool you. This chick is mental. Beyond naïve, this hottie is perhaps gaming’s biggest bimbo. Even worse, she’s not even a minor character, she actually joins your party! Not to mention, she is equipped with one of the most irritating voices ever recorded. What kind of person ends every sentence with giggles and awkward pauses?

Number 5: Mr. Resetti (Animal Crossing)

Have you ever forgotten to save your game? Well in Animal Crossing, such a minor oversight is treated like a war crime! That’s right, this mole digs his way up and gives you a never-ending speech and guilt trip about it. He will even make you write out an apology! Not cool.

Number 4: All of Sonic’s Friends (Sonic The Hedgehog Series)

In the late 90s, Sega decided that the best way to rekindle our love of Sonic was to introduce countless animal friends. The result was the introduction to such forgetful characters as Shadow the Hedgehog, Rouge the Bat, Cream The Rabbit, Blaze the Cat and so forth. Way to take all the focus away from your mascot!

Number 3: Dog (Duck Hunt)

Not just an icon of retro gaming, this canine is the very symbol of annoyance. While he would congratulate you for succeeding, he was just as quick to mock you. Admit it, you’ve unloaded your light gun on this guy.

Number 2: Navi (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)

This fairy cannot let you be, she simply has to get your attention every two seconds. No Navi, we aren’t going to listen anymore.

Number 1: Baby Mario (Yoshi’s Island)

Taking top dishonors on our list is the character who has no mercy for our eardrums. Babies are annoying, and baby plumbers in a video game riding a dinosaur are more so.
