7 Things You Should Know About Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception

Treasure hunter Nathan Drake is locked in a deadly race to find the location of a mythical city buried in the Arabian dessert. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’ll be filling you in on everything you should know about Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

Number 1: The Plot

In the third installment of the series, Drake is on the hunt for the lost Arabian city of Iram, which is rumored to contain immeasurable wealth. On his quest, he ventures across the globe in search of clues left behind by Lawrence of Arabia and Drake’s ancestor Sir Francis Drake. Traveling from London to the Arabian Peninsula and Rub’ al Khali desert, Drake soon encounters a shadowy organization who will stop at nothing to beat him to it.

Number 2: The Characters

Not only is Drake returning for his greatest adventure yet, but the charismatic, carefree and resourceful explorer is joined by several companions. These include his father-like Mentor Victor “Sully” Sullivan, as well as his love interest, journalist Elena Fisher.

On the other hand, the team must combat Katherine Marlowe, the head of a secret order dating back over 400 years. Not only out to stop them, she manages to spur doubt on Drake’s esteemed heritage.

Number 3: Gameplay

Continuing the focus on cover-based shooting, Uncharted 3 brings several upgrades and improvements over previous installments. Among them is the game’s new advanced melee combat system. This allows Drake to face off against multiple enemies at once, subdue them while jumping from elevated positions and use of items from his surroundings as melee weapons.

Number 4: Weapons

From Drake’s signature .45 Defendor, sawed-off twin-barrel “Pistole”, and AK-47, to Sully’s use of his signature Wes-44, Uncharted 3’s weapons and combat builds on what fans love and expect.

The most notable of the new weapon additions is the sawed off shotgun. However players will also be able to fire a variety of other guns, including the Dragon Sniper, M32-Hammer grenade launcher, Pak-80 long gun, and devastating gun turrets.

Best of all, players can now automatically pick up ammo without having to break up the action.

Number 5: Multiplayer Improvements

Expanding upon the offerings of the previous game, Uncharted 3 features larger and more refined cooperative and competitive play modes. These include bigger and more dynamic maps, as well as “Medal Kickbacks.” These offer temporary player and weapon enhancements and are activated once a player earns a set number of medals. These abilities range from speed boosts to short-term invulnerability, and even the ability to change the positions of all players on the map.

As expected, Boosters are back, once again allowing you to purchase special skills, such as the option to carry more ammo or drop live grenades upon death.

Plus, players will also have tons of customization options, such the ability to create personalized emblems, or clothing.

Number 6: Multiplayer Modes

New to the franchise is the exciting addition of Three Team Deathmatch and Eight-Player Free For All.

Other online multiplayer options consist of the Hunter, Adventure and Arena Modes.

The first pits a team of heroes against a team of villains out to disrupt their treasure collecting while the timer counts down.

Adventure on the other hand is similar to Uncharted 2’s Objective Mode. Here, up to three players must complete objectives, while fighting AI opponents.

Finally, Arena combines three of the old gameplay options into one, while giving players an objective at the onset of the match. These range from survival against waves of enemies, to Gold Rush which requires you to bring treasure back to base, and Siege, which is all about capturing territories.

Number 7: Graphics and AI

Maximizing the processing power of the PS3, Uncharted 3 is a game bursting with detail and cinematic flare. It uses every gig of blu-ray disk space, upping the level and detail, allowing for a whole-new dynamic processing system and exciting new artificial intelligence system. This allows enemy behavior to be unscripted, basing decisions on the combat terrain and your strategy.

Conclusion:

Developed by Naughty Dog, this PlayStation 3 exclusive third-person shooter ups the ante for the series with its gripping narrative, enjoyable multiplayer action, and spectacular Stereoscopic 3D support.
