Also, I declare this movie fits the bill since it's generally despised by fans of the comic, even though it's far more entertaining than the 2012 reboot.

This villain has inspired gamers everywhere (including me) to make characters modelled after him, despite the fact that the low-budget Gamers movies were better put together than this blockbuster bomb.
