Has Conor McGregor Jumped the Shark?

McCrazy?

Dude.  DUDE.

Not cool.

The Telegraph reports:

Conor McGregor has been charged with assault and criminal mischief following an incident at a media event to promote UFC 223. The 29-year-old is alleged to have been part of a group of men that vandalised a coach containing rival fighters from the UFC.
McGregor handed himself in to police in Brooklyn after video footage emerged of him appearing to hurl a hand cart at a rear window of the bus as it went to leave the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The bus is understood to have contained McGregor’s long-term lightweight rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is scheduled to fight Max Holloway this weekend for the lightweight title, which was formerly held by the Irishman.

That’s . . . bad.

Con-or?

So, like, is McGregor headed for jail? And what exactly does UFC head honcho Dana Whit think about all this? Has he got Conor’s back? Well . . .

MMAJunkie:

“Normally, yes – I would dive right in and do everything in my power to help one of my guys,” White today said told ESPN hosts Michelle Beadle and Mike Greenberg on the “Get Up” morning news show. “But not in this situation. He came into the Barclays Center, attacked our fighters, and attacked my staff with a bunch of guys – no. You don’t get my help on this one.”

“Crazy things happen in sports … you’re dealing with human beings with personal lives and all these other things. But in the history of the UFC, this is definitely the worst thing that’s happened. This is not the Conor McGregor I know.”

Yeesh. And Dana ain’t done . . .

“I honestly don’t know the answer to that question (if he’ll fight in the UFC again),” White said. “We were working on a new deal and new plan for him all this week, and then he shows up and this happens. … This has never happened before. This is a completely different situation than anything I’ve ever been in. Conor McGregor was a guy people looked up to. Yes, he was cocky. Yes, he was brash. But he never did anything like this. This is completely different.

“Absolutely, I’m let down. Not only is he the biggest star in the UFC, he’s one of the biggest stars on planet Earth in sports and entertainment. He has a son at home – he just had a baby. He has a bright future with the UFC – we were working on a new deal that was going to pay him ridiculous money. I have no explanation for it.”

Neither do we, Dana. Neither do we.
