#3: Woody Harrelson Rumored to Play Carnage in New Venom Movie

If the rumors are true, Tom Hardy will be seeing a lot of red in the standalone film. According to rumors and reports coming out of bleedingcool.com, Woody Harrelson – who stars in the latest Star Wars film, Solo – will don the red of Carnage as Venom’s main villain. Bleedingcool did not provide any additional information. Carnage first appeared in the comic “The Amazing Spider-Man #344” as Cletus Kasady, a serial killer who when escaping prison, merged with the offspring of the alien symbiote that created Venom.

Because of Kasady’s psychopathic tendencies, the addition of the evil symbiote makes him even more dangerous and unstable than Venom. While Harrelson has never played a villain quite as disturbed as Kasady, the Oscar nominee has played some crazy characters; like the murderer Mickey Knox in Natural Born Killers and Charlie Costello in Seven Psychopaths.

#2: Guillermo del Toro Signs Massive Deal with Fox Searchlight

The Shape of Water earned Guillermo del Toro and Fox Searchlight Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director, and it seems his film is the gift that keeps on giving. After tremendous success during awards season, Fox Searchlight has signed del Toro to a giant deal that not only guarantees him funding and distribution for future films, but one that also sees the iconic filmmaker create a brand new genre movie label.

In a statement released earlier this week, Fox Searchlight announced that del Toro would be heading and creating a new Fox label that would “serve as a home for projects in the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres.” “In Fox Searchlight, I’ve found a real home for live action production – a partnership based on hard work, understanding of each other and, above all, faith.” del Toro said in s statement. The new label has yet to release its name.

#1: Avengers: Infinity War Directors Urge Fans Not to Spoil Top Secret Plot

The most ambitious crossover event in history is only weeks away, and Infinity War directors Anthony and Joe Russo are freaking out that their story will be spoiled. In a letter posted on the brothers’ twitter addressing “the greatest fans in the world”, the duo explain how unlike previous Marvel installments which have been screened in their entirety well before their release, Infinity War screenings, pre-theatrical debut, will be limited in both the number of screenings, as well as the amount of footage actually shown.

This is largely in part to keep the secrecy of the plot intact until the official release on April 27th. Keeping the plot and storylines secret until then is one thing, but throughout is another, with the brothers pleading “that when you see Infinity War in the coming months, that you maintain the same level of secrecy so that all fans can have an equal experience when they watch it for the first time.” Whether or not that actually happens is yet to be seen.

Be sure to keep tuning in for future installments as well as check out last week’s edition of The CineFiles!
