The Star Wars bandwagon just refuses to stop. Not only do we have Episode IX on the horizon as well as the glorious return of the animated Clone Wars show, but now we have an upcoming live-action series that should be hitting the Disney streaming service sometime in the near future. What do we know about it? It’s being brought together by Jon Favreau, it has a budget of a 100 million dollars and just might feature the galaxy’s greatest warriors on their home turf.

The announcement that Iron Man director Jon Favreau was working on a live-action Star Wars television series was one that was a welcome surprise by most fans of the franchise. While there is little we know of the series so far, it has been confirmed that it is set to debut on Disney’s own streaming service. The first season of the series will count 10 episodes, which have been to reported to cost approximately $100 million per episode.
Fans have had their own theories and wish lists as to what Favreau’s untitled Star Wars TV series could be, ranging from a focus on specific fan-favorite characters to various possible timelines of the saga. While it’s been relatively quiet on the news front of Favreau’s upcoming Lucasfilm project, a new rumor has surfaced online, seemingly claiming not only when the series is meant to take place, but also on which planet.
According to Star Wars fan website Making Star Wars, sources claim that Favreau’s television series will be set three years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and take place on the home planet of fan-favorite character Boba Fett, Mandalore. The rumor states that the series will focus on the unrest that the planet finds itself in following the fall of the Empire, and how it can rise back up to glory.
With such an astronomical budget and the creative vision of a longtime fan, this Mandalorian venture could make for a potentially epic time, complete with all manner of laser blasts and some sweet looking armor. Boba Fett fans eat your heart out.
