Here Comes The King Of The Sea
While coming across as more of an AquaBro in last year’s Justice League, we still can’t wait to see what Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry can bring to the forefront when given the time to shine in his own solo flick. With the promise of a swashbuckling adventure, we’re hoping that Aquaman will end up getting the Wonder Woman treatment he so desperately deserves.
#5: Less League
Given how this version of Aquaman got his debut in Justice League, there are bound to be a few references to his fellow caped crusaders. That being said, we’re hoping the film follows Wonder Woman’s direction by keeping it contained, as opposed to stretching itself too far by trying to set up multiple flicks at the same time. We’re here to see Aquaman kick the crap out of Black Manta, not get a teaser for the next Green Lantern.Â
#4: Under The Sea
It might seem like an obvious point, but knowing the DCEU’s rocky history, there’s every chance that we might not get as much time underwater as we’d like. We’re all for flashbacks to strengthen Aquman’s character, especially if it developers his strained relationship with Atlantis given his human ancestry, just so long as it doesn’t come to the detriment of all the sea-faring action.
#3: AtlantisÂ
This mythical underwater civilisation will serve as the entire film’s focal point, so it’s going to have to blow us away. While we doubt it will get Game of Thrones levels of world-building, hopefully enough creativity will go into the set design that we’ll be left staggered as opposed to be constantly reminded it’s just poor CGI. If we’re lucky, Atlantis will end up becoming the DC equivalent to Wakanda.Â
#2: The Reluctant King
Our musclebound hero got the slightest bit of development when he encountered Mera for the first time back in Justice League, but soon proceeded to go full on Atlantean Fratboy when joining up Batman and company. While we’re sure Jason Momoa will be able to show off Aquaman’s strength and unprecedented badassery, we’re also hoping to see a more conflicted side to him as he struggles with his decision to assume the throne.
#1: Shark Army
Don’t act like you don’t want to see it. It will be nothing short of a sin if this film doesn’t have a scene involving Aquaman summoning an army of Great White Sharks to take out his enemies. Make it happen James Wan!
