What alternate universe is this? Where did this movie come from? Was this on anyones radar? There is a movie sequel to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo that isn’t based on the 2nd book, but actually a 4th book in the Millennium series that was written by someone other than Stieg Larsson? Claire Foy is the new Lisbeth Salander?? This all seems very confusing and unexpected… Ok, enough questions, check out the trailer here:
Ok, so despite not having David Fincher back to direct or Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig to star, it does have some decent talent attached.  The aforementioned Claire Foy is a solid actress (although I couldn’t help thinking it was Queen Elisabeth playing Salander while watching the trailer…) and new director Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) has some quality movies under his belt and seems to have a flair for extreme creepiness and uncomfortable visuals. So… it’s possible this movie might work?  It’s still very disappointing that we never got a proper Fincher/Mara sequel, but maybe, just maybe… this could launch the Salander character into a series of badass vigilante movies? Maybe?
Anyways, I’d definitely chalk this up as a Sequel That Nobody Asked For (they were asking for a different sequel…), but then again, it could be the start of something great. In any case, here’s our guide on how to not screw up a sequel. Fingers crossed that Mr. Alvarez has seen this!
