Top 5 Need to Know Facts About “March For Our Lives”

The March for Our Lives, which is set to take place on March 24, 2018, is a movement, which demands change from lawmakers in order to prevent further gun violence in the United States. Here are 5 facts you need to know about this upcoming rally.

#5. The #NeverAgain and subsequent march was organized by students in the United States:

Who said young people can’t inspire change? Following the events of the February 14 tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, a group of survivors decided to initiate a movement to demand stricter gun laws. Ultimately, young people in America are the ones who are most effected by mass shootings, so it makes sense that they would be the ones to stand up for change. However, its safe to say no one anticipated their voices to echo this loudly.

#4: If you can’t attend the march in Washington, there are several other communities organizing them, too.

If you want to show your support for the Parkland students and others from across the country, but can’t make it to Washington, don’t fret! Many communities are organizing their own marches in solidarity with the #NeverAgain cause. Check local listings and social media sites to find one near you. #3: The students’ cause has raised over $3 million… and counting!

As of March 6th, 2018, Cameron Kasky’s GoFundMe page has raise $3,053,488 of the $3 million goal. The funds will go to organizing the march, and the remainder will be donated to the families of those affected by the Parkland shooting.

#2: Many celebrities are rallying with the cause!

While the march was spearheaded by teenagers, there are many adults who are showing solidarity with the #NeverAgain movement. Celebrities like George and Amal Clooney, Stephen Spielberg, Oprah and more have made significant donations to the cause. Most recently, Justin Bieber has urged fans to sign petitions in support of #NeverAgain.

#1: The students are determined to make their school shooting the last one in the United States.

Refusing to be another statistic, the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are determined to ensure that their school tragedy is the last one. In an interview with ABC news, Cameron Kasky stated: “People are saying that it’s not time to talk about gun control. And we can respect that. Here’s a time. March 24th in every single city. We are going to be marching together as students begging for our lives.”
