Beychella: Top 5 Highlights from Beyoncé’s Epic Coachella Set

In case you haven’t heard, Coachella is now Beychella.

Queen Bey performed an epic 2-hour set at the California music festival on Saturday night and overshadowed every other performer. Luckily for those who weren’t lucky enough to be in the crowd for the occasion, the show was live streamed on YouTube, meaning that everyone spent their Sunday worshiping at the altar of Beyoncé.

Not only was her set ridiculously entertaining and packed to the brim with her biggest hits, it was also historic, as it marked the first time a black woman has headlined at Coachella.

Although every second was perfection, we’re breaking down the most noteworthy moments:

5. Opening + Crazy in Love

Opening numbers set the tone for the whole show, and Beyoncé’s opening let us all know that we were in for something special. Walking the runway to the music of an enormous marching band while wearing an Egyptian-style headdress, she exuded confidence and power. She reappeared a few moments later, wearing a new outfit for a re-imagined rendition of “Crazy in Love” that got everyone pumped for the show ahead.

4. Coachella becomes Beychella

The voice of DJ Khaled, Beyoncé’s tour mate and recent collaborator, rang out in the middle of the set to announced that once her performance was over, Coachella would officially be renamed “Beychella”. The Internet obviously took the festival’s new name to heart, and have been calling it Beychella ever since.

3. Solange Cameo

In recent years, Beyoncé’s younger sister Solange has done quite a good job of stepping out from her sister’s considerable shadow and making a name for herself in the music industry. So fans were understandably ecstatic when she joined Bey on stage for an epic dance duet. The two sisters twerked and danced their hearts out together in perfect sync, and seemed to be having a blast doing it.

2. Jay-Z Performance

We can’t say we didn’t expect this, but it’s still always a treat when the legendary husband and wife take the stage together. Jay-Z joined Bey for a performance of “Déjà vu”.

1. Destiny’s Child Reunion

It was the reunion everyone was hoping for. Destiny’s Child haven’t been on stage together since Beyoncé’s Super Bowl Halftime show back in 2013, so the audience was waiting with bated breath to see if the group would harmonize together once again. Near the middle of her set, Bey was joined by her former bandmates Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, and proceeded to perform “Lose My Breath,” “Say My Name,” and “Soldier”. The trio didn’t miss a beat, and it was as if they had never left.
