#10: Kentucky Karen

If you already have Karen-y tendencies, alcohol is not a good idea, especially when phone cameras are around. Well, that’s the fate that Sophia Rosing experienced in 2022. While attending the University of Kentucky, she returned to campus after a night out. When Kylah Spring, a fellow student who was working the night shift, asked for Rosing’s ID, the intoxicated student launched into a racist tirade and attacked Spring, which was caught on camera. When the police arrived, to make it worse for herself, Rosing allegedly attacked an officer, continued her racist rant, and reportedly bragged about her wealth. On top of being banned as a student, Rosing faced criminal charges. In 2024, after pleading guilty, she was sentenced to a year in jail.

#9: Political Problem

Evidence is always vital in criminal cases. And in Barbara Fielding-Morriss’s case, there was plenty of it, since she posted it herself. The prospective UK politician, who ran to be a Member of Parliament in 2017, was arrested shortly before the election. The authorities had tied Fielding-Morriss to an online manifesto filled with racist and anti-Semitic writings. On top of praising Adolf Hitler’s despicable crimes and many other vile beliefs, she compared immigrants and Jews to termites. During her trial, Fielding-Morriss made it even worse by representing herself and uttering her terrible views in court. Unsurprisingly, in 2018, she was sentenced to 12 months, half of which she spent in jail.

#8: Cookie Crazy

Throughout world prison history, there are plenty of cases of people being locked up for noble reasons. However, Daja Tucker’s cause is unlikely to be among them. In 2020, she collected her order from a McDonald’s in Parma, Ohio. However, when she peered into the bag and saw her cookie was missing, Tucker got angry. So much so that she climbed through the restaurant’s drive-thru window and attacked three employees. Reportedly, Tucker took it a step further by spitting on a worker during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Yikes. As part of a plea deal, Tucker was found guilty on multiple counts and was sentenced to 90 days in jail. Following that, she had to attend anger management classes.

#7: Ambulance Anger

One of the clearest signs of having committed a crime is admitting to it in a text message. And that’s exactly what Stacey Smith did in 2023. Working alongside her wife, Paula Smith, at an ambulance service in Oldham, England, the couple were frustrated with their manager, Michala Morton, over their work shifts. So, Stacey, without Paula’s knowledge, took matters into her own hands. She arrived at Morton’s home and attacked her with a hammer. Thankfully, she survived the assault. Shortly after committing this violence, Stacey texted a friend telling them what she did and ending it with “Oppsie!” In 2024, she was sentenced to 20 years. Despite not being involved, Paula was fired, which a tribunal deemed unfair in 2026.

#6: Grievous Garlic

If you ordered takeout and a sauce was missing, most people would go back and request it. Yet on Christmas Eve 2025, Marwan Khadir decided crime was better. After collecting his order from a restaurant in London, England, he went home, only to realize that four garlic sauces were missing. After an angry phone call to the business, Khadir returned to the eatery to argue further with staff. Captured on the restaurant's CCTV, Khadir attempted to jump over the counter. When that hilariously failed, he pulled out a firearm and threatened to take the worker’s life. The police would soon discover the weapon was a replica. In 2026, Khadir was sentenced to three years.

#5: TSA Tantrum

Every day, many people have items taken by TSA agents. Is it frustrating? Sure, but it’s for a good reason. Safety. Unfortunately for Ma’Kiah Coleman, she wouldn’t let it go when she was at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2023. After her items were confiscated during the security check, which reportedly included her apple juice, Coleman tried to get them back. When that wasn't successful, she lost it. So, Coleman got onto a table and began attacking workers. She reportedly ripped the staff’s clothing, bit an agent, punched one person repeatedly, and gave another worker a concussion. In 2024, after pleading guilty to the attack, Coleman was sentenced to four months in jail.

#4: The Last Straw

In 2019, St. Petersburg, Florida, brought in a city ordinance requiring customers to ask for a plastic straw at restaurants, rather than getting one themselves. For most people, this is a minor inconvenience at most. Yet for Daniel Taylor, it was a big problem, apparently. On New Year’s Eve in 2018, the city’s McDonald’s had already introduced this policy. So, after collecting his meal, Taylor was livid that he couldn’t find a straw. After yelling and screaming at worker Yasmine James, he was recorded grabbing her and attempting to drag her over the counter. Amazingly, James let fly with several punches to defend herself. In 2019, Taylor was sentenced to 60 days in jail.

#3: Conservative Karen

Social media and Karens are a bad mix, as Lucy Connolly found out, and can lead to an easy criminal case. Married to a Conservative Party West Northamptonshire councillor in England, Connolly went on her X account and decided to throw in her thoughts on events at the time. Rather than something measured, she reportedly called for mass deportation of immigrants, alongside encouraging setting fire to hotels housing asylum seekers. She also added, “If that makes me racist, so be it.” Well, seemingly the authorities agreed. In 2024, after Connolly pleaded guilty to stirring up racial hatred with her posts, she was sentenced to 31 months in jail. Following her release, she declared herself a “political prisoner.”

#2: Spewing Racism at Those Helping

For most victims of crime, when the police arrive to help, they show respect and hope to get justice. Yet Vicki Momberg took a very different approach. In 2016, after thieves had broken into her car in Johannesburg, South Africa, officers arrived. Yet Momberg, who is White, verbally attacked the officers, who are Black, throwing in insults and slurs that were recorded on camera. In 2018, she became the first South African to be convicted of crimen injuria, which involves a person unlawfully demeaning another. Sentenced to three years with one suspended, Momberg reportedly fired six legal teams during her case and was briefly considered “on the run” when she failed to hand herself in. In 2019, Momberg was released after special remission of sentence.

#1: Blame Spreading

One key trait that Karens tend to lack is taking responsibility. In 2019, Daniella Leis got intoxicated at a gig at the now-named Canada Life Place stadium in London, Ontario, Canada. Rather than get a cab, she drove home. However, she ended up crashing into a gas line, causing an explosion in a neighborhood. With over $10 million in damages, multiple people were injured, but, amazingly, no fatalities. In 2021, after pleading guilty, Leis was sentenced to three years in jail and faced civil lawsuits from residents for her terrible decision. In 2023, she sued the stadium’s food and beverage company for allowing her to drink, claiming the business shared some of the liability.
