5 Things You Missed in February 2025 & 5 to Watch in March
Welcome to WatchMojo, and today, we’re looking at movies and shows you missed in February 2026, as well as upcoming March releases you won’t want to miss. Check out last month’s video to see our February must-watch picks as well!
#5 Missed: “2026 Oscar Nominated Short Films” (2026)
It’s a shame that even the most diehard award enthusiasts tend to sleep on the Oscar-nominated shorts every year. For 2026, Roadside Attractions teamed with Taika Waititi to bring all fifteen shorts to the silver screen. The animation category offers a mix of styles, from stop-motion, to CG, to hand-drawn, to hand-painted. The live-action nominees have it all: comedy, drama, period dramas that are actually period comedies… and period isn’t what you think. Naturally, the documentary shorts are the heaviest, exploring school shootings, medical care, the dangerous side of journalism, and more. There’s an entire world of short filmmaking waiting to be discovered, and this year’s crop of nominees is a great place for newcomers to get their feet wet.
#5 Won’t Miss: “Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat” (2026)
“Jury Duty” was among the most pleasant surprises of 2023, mixing elements of a reality show, prank show, and mockumentary sitcom. With the first season being so unique, we weren’t sure how a second could replicate the formula while still being fresh. We’ll find out in “Company Retreat,” a successor season that will feature fourteen cast members from comedy backgrounds and one unsuspecting newcomer named Anthony. Similar to Ronald in the first season, Anthony is hired at a family-owned hot sauce business. What Anthony doesn’t realize is that the company is fake and the people he’s interacting with are all actors. It sounds like “Jury Duty,” but “Company Retreat” has the potential to be something completely different.
#4 Missed: “56 Days” (2026-)
For every child star who outgrows their Disney Channel roots, there eventually comes a project that asserts that they’re not a kid anymore. For “Descendants” alumna Dove Cameron, “56 Days” is the most risque role of her career thus far. In this adaptation of Catherine Ryan Howard’s novel, Cameron’s Ciara stars opposite Avan Jogia’s Oliver. Their casual first encounter at a grocery store leads to passionate lovemaking… which leads to a dead body in a bathtub. A few other things happen in between. The authorities aim to fill in the gaps, slowly unraveling this soapy and steamy mystery. The charismatic leads keep us guessing every step of the way, as we go back and forth on who is more likely to be a murderer.
#4 Won’t Miss: “The Bride!” (2026)
Jessie Buckley is currently in the midst of picking up awards for her devastating turn in “Hamnet.” How does one follow up a career-best performance? With a project that sounds equally bold and bonkers! Buckley is unrecognized as the titular Bride, who’s given a second act after death with some help from a possibly mad scientist and her new monster beau, Frank. Christian Bale, Annette Bening, and Peter Sarsgaard also star in the latest film from writer/director Maggie Gyllenhaal, who reimagines a classic story as a Prohibition Era crime romance about a woman taking her life back in more ways than one. There have been many “Frankenstein” adaptations, but this is one Bride who will surely stand out from all others.
#3 Missed: “EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert” (2026)
Even after the 2022 biopic, Baz Luhrmann isn’t done with Elvis Presley. During the latter film’s production, Luhrmann uncovered a treasure trove of unseen footage from the 1970 documentary “Elvis: That’s the Way It Is” and the 1972 concert feature “Elvis on Tour.” Luhrmann and company have meticulously restored that footage into a film that captures why Elvis was considered the King. For those who never got to see Elvis live, this is perhaps the closest you’ll ever come. Although we know the footage is archived, it truly feels as if Elvis is singing and sweating in our presence. We’re confident that many will catch up with this on streaming, but believe us, you’re missing out if you don’t see “EPiC” on the big screen.
#3 Won’t Miss: “Hoppers” (2026)
James Cameron’s “Avatar” has drawn parallels to numerous animated films. We guess things have come full circle, with Pixar’s “Hoppers” comparing itself to “Avatar.” While both center on a human having an out-of-body experience as they infiltrate nature, “Hoppers” substitutes the blue aliens for beavers. Early reactions have already pegged “Hoppers” as one of Pixar’s funniest movies of recent years. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the director is “We Bare Bears” creator Daniel Chong. “Hoppers” promises to blend the offbeat humor of a Cartoon Network show with the heart of Pixar. If there’s one thing theatrical animation needs right now, it’s originality. Even if the setup for “Hoppers” sounds a touch familiar, the execution should be anything but.
#2 Missed: “Crime 101” (2026)
Bart Layton previously directed the heist film “American Animals,” which deserved to find a wider audience in 2018. Layton maintains his underrated status with “Crime 101,” another slickly made addition to the heist genre. Of course, the film isn’t so much about the heist as it is about the characters. Their backgrounds may be different, ranging from cops to criminals. Yet, each is unfufilled to a certain degree. None is above bending the rules, although some will go further than others. Even the most unlikely characters can sometimes feel like reflections of one another, building to a climax reminiscent of “Heat.” “Crime 101” might not reach the same heights as that film. Neither have most of the crime dramas released in the past thirty years.
#2 Won’t Miss: “Daredevil: Born Again” (2025-)
Season 2
The MCU may be making a comeback, with the first season of “Daredevil: Born Again” being a highlight. The sequel series has somehow taken Matt Murdock to even darker places, while Wilson Fisk has reached the pinnacle of power. To knock Kingpin off his pedestal, Daredevil will receive backup this season from Jessica Jones, once again played by Krysten Ritter. We’re not expecting her to do all of the heavy lifting, but hopefully this means a revival is in the cards for her as well. We’ll also see the return of Bullseye, Karen Page, and Foggy Nelson. It’s unclear if the latter will appear in flashbacks or if “born again” will take on a literal meaning. Either way, we’re not missing an episode.
#1 Missed: “Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie” (2025)
You might have heard of a band called Nirvana. Yet, not nearly enough people have heard of this movie, based on a TV show, based on a web series about a musical group named Nirvanna the Band… but not the Nirvana the Band you’re probably thinking of. Are you a little confused but also laughing? Then “Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie” should be right up your alley! Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol play fictional versions of themselves, who are still trying to book a gig despite their complete lack of music credits. Their latest attempt sends them back in time to 2008, which technically makes this a period piece. Think about that! Like its predecessors, this film seems destined for cult status.
#1 Won’t Miss: “Project Hail Mary” (2026)
If you’re like us, you spent February either reading or rereading Andy Weir’s sci-fi novel in preparation for this silver screen adaptation. Like “The Martian,” which Drew Goddard also wrote the screenplay for, “Project Hail Mary” centers on an isolated space traveler. He’s not entirely alone, as Ryan Gosling’s Ryland Grace finds companionship in an alien named Rocky, who is largely brought to life through practical effects. Behind the camera are Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, two visionaries who continue to push the possibilities of what cinema can be to new frontiers. Between the source material and the talent involved, it seems like the stars may align with this one, hopefully delivering a modern classic. But seriously, when can we buy Rocky merch!?
