Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for Tinseltown’s most tempestuous pairs, who just couldn’t make their relationships work.

#10: Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom

They were a power couple if we had ever seen one. The two met at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016, when Orlando tried to steal her burger but ended up stealing her heart. By May that year, they were in love and had no intention of hiding it. Unfortunately, their relationship reportedly hit a roadblock when they separated briefly in 2017. They reunited the following year, got engaged in 2019, and were envisioning a 2020 wedding. Those plans fell through when COVID-19 hit, but on the upside, the couple was blessed with a baby girl that year. The “Troy” actor and his pop star partner seemed to have the perfect life, until it was revealed in June 2025 that they had reportedly parted ways.

#9: Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck

You know a celebrity couple is messy when their relationship gets a Wikipedia page of its own. Jennifer and Ben, or Bennifer, crossed paths while working on “Gigli” in 2002. J.Lo was married to Cris Judd, but wrapped up that relationship, and jumped into an engagement with the “Good Will Hunting” star by the end of that year. The two didn’t last long, though, eventually breaking up in 2004. However, their romance had clearly not run its course because they got back together again in 2021 and married in 2022. It was a story straight out of a movie … except, without a happy ending. By 2024, they were rumored to be going through a rough patch, which ultimately ended in a 2025 divorce.

#8: Megan Fox & Machine Gun Kelly

This pair didn’t exactly have a conventional romance. They got close while filming “Midnight in the Switchgrass” in March 2020. At the time, Fox was married to Brian Austin Green, with whom she shares three kids (xref). She filed for divorce from him in 2015, before patching things up, and separating for good again in 2020. Their divorce wasn’t finalized until 2022, a month after Megan and MGK got engaged and admitted to drinking each other’s blood. All seemed well in their gothic paradise until they seemingly ended their engagement in 2023. The following year, the “Jennifer's Body” star revealed she was expecting a child with the rapper. The couple had previously experienced a pregnancy loss. They reportedly split again before Megan gave birth.

#7: Billy Porter & Adam Smith

The “Pose” superstar met his businessman ex-husband at a dinner party in 2009, surrounded by friends. Adam later recalled being, quote, ‘enamored with each other’ back then. They started a relationship, but called it quits after some months. The Broadway icon referred to Smith as ‘the one that got away’ after their first split. Cut to 2015, and they were back in each other’s lives. Porter didn’t waste any time and popped the question in 2016, before marrying him sixteen days later, on January 14, 2017. Despite having a healing marriage, Porter and Smith separated again in 2023. At the time, the Grammy winner openly declared that he would always love Adam.

#6: Khloé Kardashian & Tristan Thompson

The Kardashian-Jenners have seen their fair share of toxic relationships. Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick were together for years, but their on-and-off relationship was reportedly plagued by cheating allegations. Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott also dealt with rumors of the rapper’s infidelity and had breaks in their relationship. Meanwhile, Rob Kardashian and Angela White a.k.a Blac Chyna went through extremely toxic ups and downs, too. However, Khloé and Tristan had the whole internet invested in their romance. The NBA star allegedly cheated on her with multiple women, one of whom was Kylie’s close friend, Jordyn Woods. Yet, she repeatedly took him back before finally closing that chapter of her life, much to the relief of her fans.

#5: Cardi B & Offset

The Grammy winner shares three children with the “Bad and Boujee” rapper, but their relationship has been far from ideal. They were first linked in 2017, and we only found out later that they apparently got hitched that year. Marital bliss did not last long, though, because by 2018, word spread that Offset had allegedly stepped out on Cardi. She didn’t immediately dump him, but the couple did eventually split, after which Offset publicly implored her to get back together. He got through to her, and the two were seemingly an item again by early 2019. Come 2020, Cardi filed for divorce, reportedly citing claims of Offset’s unfaithfulness. Still, they didn’t end their marriage until she filed for divorce again in 2024.

#4: Billy Ray Cyrus & Tish Cyrus

This couple sought divorce twice before calling time on their marriage for good. They fell in love when Billy Ray was far from the icon he is now. After their first child, Miley Cyrus, was born in 1992, they tied the knot. In the years that followed, they welcomed two more children – Braison and Noah. However, the happy family was disturbed when Billy Ray filed for divorce in 2010, which he called off less than a year later. In 2013, it was Tish’s turn to put the divorce papers in, but thanks to therapy, they reconciled. They sustained their marriage for a few more years before Tish initiated divorce proceedings again in 2022. They were reportedly living separately by then. Both parties eventually moved on.

#3: Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth

Love was in the air for these two stars when they met while working on “The Last Song”. By 2010, they were an item, but that same year, they reportedly broke up twice. After deciding to stay together, they got engaged in 2012, only to call it off the following year. After seeing other people for a while, Miley and Liam picked up where they left off and were engaged again in 2016. Two years later, they exchanged vows, but were separated again in 2019. This eventually led to Liam filing for divorce. Per reports, his traditional side was apparently clashing with her need for independence. Since their divorce was finalized, both Miley and Liam have found love with other people.

#2: Emma Roberts & Evan Peters

The “American Horror Story: Coven” stars had a tumultuous relationship that spanned about seven years. She fell for him while working on “Adult World” together in 2012, and they started dating soon after. However, their relationship was heavily scrutinized when Roberts was reportedly arrested for alleged domestic violence against him in 2013. Both actors’ reps described the incident as a ‘misunderstanding’. Nevertheless, the two proceeded to get engaged just a few months later. Between 2015 and 2016, they broke up and got back together twice before canceling their engagement in 2019. Talk about an emotional roller-coaster.

From locking eyes at a party to working together, cheating on their respective partners with each other, and finally marrying in 1964 – their romance was what Burton called ‘le scandale’. However, their marriage reportedly came to an end after a decade when Dick stepped out on Liz with Nathalie Delon. She was quick to divorce him, but they remarried in 1975, before divorcing again months later. Both went on to have two more marriages in their lives. Yet, it is well-known that in their heart of hearts, they always hoped they could reunite one more time.
