10 Celebrity Couples That Are Less Wholesome Because of What We Know Now

2017 was a big year for the duo. Not only did Cardi and Offset go public with their relationship, but they also got engaged and married. Granted, the nuptials weren't confirmed until 2018. The next few years turned the couple from music royalty to court jesters as they broke up multiple times while having three children. Yet every time Cardi and Offset reunited, the PDA on social media was soon overshadowed by more scandal. In 2024, not long after they filed for divorce, Cardi was hosting an Instagram Live when Offset joined in the comments. He accused her of cheating on him while pregnant, a rumor that’d been spreading around for a while. Cardi responded by seemingly confirming it on social media.

Dave Grohl & Jordyn Blum

The legendary drummer of Nirvana and frontman of the Foo Fighters, Grohl has developed a reputation as being one of the most wholesome rock stars around. After all, he’s often popped up on social media supporting children. Yet when it comes to his personal life, it’s a different matter. Despite mentioning that he cheated on his first wife, Jennifer Leigh Youngblood, he seemingly put that behind him when tying the knot with Blum in 2003. However, in 2024, we found that not to be the case. Grohl admitted to having fathered a child with another woman outside of his relationship and asked for his family’s forgiveness as he withdrew from festivals. In 2025, reports emerged that Blum had given her husband another chance.

Julie Chen & Les Moonves

In 2004, a power couple emerged when host and news anchor Chen married CBS executive Moonves. Yet despite that, the host continued using her birth name, rather than adopting her husband’s last name. In 2018, Moonves was accused of misconduct and harassment by several women, including costing them work if they didn’t reciprocate his advances. While he disputed the allegations, he resigned from CBS, opening up a legal battle with the network over severance pay. As a result, Chen resigned from “The Talk.” Yet days later, she hosted “Big Brother.” When Chen signed off, instead of her catchphrase involving her name, she stated it was “Julie Chen Moonves,” seemingly putting her support behind her husband despite the serious allegations.

In 1997, Will and Jada tied the knot. Over the following years, they became one of the strongest showbiz marriages in an industry where relationships don’t typically have a long shelf-life. However, that began to change in 2013 when Jada seemingly confirmed rumors that they had an open marriage. This led to whispers that Will had been seeing Margot Robbie. In 2020, Jada admitted to having a relationship with her son’s friend, August Alsina. With all the publicity, the couple responded that they’d been legally separated since 2016, but had no plans to divorce and could see other people. As such, Will stated that at one point, he desired a “harem of girlfriends,” including Halle Berry and Misty Copeland, but changed his mind.

After having dated publicly since 1997, in 1999, “Posh and Becks” got married and later had four children. The Spice Girls member and the English footballer were immediately engulfed in media interest that’s barely left them. Yet none more so than in 2004 when Rebecca Loos went public with allegations. After David had moved to Real Madrid in Spain, he hired Loos as a PA. However, while she was fired months later, she claimed she had an affair with the footballer nicknamed “Golden Balls.” Sarah Marbeck also came forward with similar claims. However, David called the allegations "ludicrous." During the “Beckham” Netflix docuseries in 2023, Victoria and David talked about how difficult their marriage was at that time.

Adam Levine & Behati Prinsloo

After dating for a couple of years, in 2014, the Maroon 5 frontman got married to the Namibian model. With Levine and Jonah Hill having grown up together, the actor officiated the wedding. And for a while, the relationship seemed great. Yet in 2022, when the couple went public that they were expecting their third child, rumors emerged that Levine had been cheating. Several women came forward and showed messages they’d received from the singer. On top of being terrible because his wife was pregnant, the texts were heavily mocked for Levine’s lack of rizz. He also tried to name the child after an alleged affair partner, Sumner Stroh. Levine denied having an affair, but did admit that the messages “crossed the line.”

Nicki Minaj & Kenneth Petty

In 2018, it seemed like a tale from a romance film as Minaj went public with her relationship with childhood friend, Petty. Yet the public’s warm, fuzzy feeling soon vanished when it was discovered Petty had spent several years in jail as a teenager after an attempted assault on Jennifer Hough. Regardless, he and Minaj got married in 2019 and had a child in 2020. Yet that same year, Petty was arrested after failing to update his details on the offender’s register, bringing his crime back into the public consciousness. That got worse in 2021 when Hough issued a lawsuit against the couple for harassment, which they denied. In 2022, Hough dropped Minaj from the suit, but not Petty.

Alec & Hilaria Baldwin

After his divorce from Kim Basinger and controversies afterwards, Alec seemingly got everything sorted when he began dating Hilaria publicly in 2012. They got married the same year and later had seven children together. In 2019, she even spoke at the UN and proudly mentioned her half-Spanish heritage. Yet in 2020, Hilaria was accused of cultural appropriation as her accent switched between Spanish and American. On websites, she was often listed as being born in Mallorca, Spain, despite actually being born in Boston, Massachusetts. Even her name was seemingly faked as she was born “Hillary,” not “Hilaria.” In 2021, she responded to the allegations by claiming she was culturally fluid.

Ashton Kutcher & Mila Kunis

Even though it took a while, “That ‘70s Show” fans were delighted when Kutcher and Kunis mimicked their characters by getting together in 2012, eventually tying the knot in 2015. They became leading figureheads in the charity Kutcher co-founded, Thorn, which aims to protect children from abuse. However, all of that goodwill was destroyed in 2023. Following Danny Masterson’s conviction for assault, the couple sent letters to the judge to plead for leniency on his sentence, which were leaked to the press. Instantly, Kutcher and Kunis became villains. However, they made it worse with a video apology that was accused of being disingenuous, as they mentioned the letters weren’t meant to be public. As a result, both were forced to resign from Thorn.

While they’re often thought of as one of the most iconic couples in pop culture, there was a far more uncomfortable side to their relationship. In 1959, the music legend was doing his military service in Germany. At the age of 24, he met Priscilla, who was 14. Yikes. Even when Elvis and Priscilla married in 1967, some newspapers skirted around the controversial age gap. After one child, the couple divorced in 1973 before Elvis passed away in 1977. In 1985, Pricilla released a memoir on their relationship, drawing publicity towards his affairs and the inappropriate age gap that reemerges every so often. Yet she’s regularly downplayed the age scandal and defended Elvis against accusations of criminal behavior.
