#17 < #16 - Christiane Amanpour > #15

Christiane Amanpour was born on January 12, 1958 in London, England. She is the Chief International correspondent for the news company CNN.  

She was born in England but soon moved to Tehran, Iran where she grew up until the age of 11 when she returned to London.  Her mother was British, her father an Iran Air pilot. She eventually moved to the US to study journalism at the University of Rhode Island.   

Fresh out of school she took a job with NBC, and was hired by CNN soon after that in 1983.  She spent a lot of time covering the conflicts and revolutions that Eastern Europe was experiencing, but it was her coverage of the Persian Gulf War starting in 1990 that really exposed her to wide audience hungry for more information. From there she went on to cover many more conflicts around the world and has become one of the most respected journalists on television.  

Her willingness to cover the stories in the most dangerous of locations has made her one of the most highly paid reporters in the business and she has secured a reputation of integrity and respect.
