] HipMojo.com » Disney’s $20M Chinese Mobile Content Play

According to Paid Content, Disney just forked over $20M for Chinese Mobile Content Provider Enorbus

When you consider the potential size of wireless entertainment and mobile advertising, it’s not a surprising move, especially when you factor in China’s advanced adoption of mobile interaction.

Of course, it’s not just Chinese mobile content that is in demand, case in point: this move by Disney comes on the heel of Bellrock Media’s acquisition of Moderati (for a figure north of $10M), to allow Bellerock a foray into the US wireless market:

“Bringing Moderati and its management team under the Bellrock umbrella gives us tremendous credibility and a mature platform from which to execute in the U.S. mobile market,” Bellerock President Peter Levin commented. “This acquisition accelerates our growth timeline domestically and gets us up to speed with our Japanese operation, which is firing on all cylinders.”

Things are heating up in wireless; and while carriers have an apparent advantage, they have been slow in offering subscribers a compelling product from a content-perspective, meaning that it’s wide open for companies to bundle content and pony up a Trojan horse to win subscribers’ attention and money.
