The Spree River is overly polluted for swimming. However, locals have not been prevented from taking a dip in their native river on warm summer days. The Badeschiff is a cargo container that has been converted into a clean swimming environment. It is located along the banks of the Spree, and was opened in 2004. Near the pool entrance is a bar, and lively music is often playing throughout the day.

Tourists are able to descend through the center of the AquaDom through an elevator, which gives impressive views of the sea life within.
