Taxidermy is the practice of preserving a dead animal for display. Most often used by hunters to exhibit their trophies, taxidermy can also utilized by distraught pet owners who have recently lost their beloved animal, or by museums as a method of study. By skinning the animal and mounting its hide on a mold, the aim is to capture the animal’s essence. Taxidermists consider their vocation an art form similar to painting or sculpture.
