Leoncavallo's Tragic Clown Pagliacci

in: hosted by Mihaela Coman

Leoncavallo's Tragic Clown Pagliacci Written and composed by Ruggero Leoncavallo, 'Pagliacci' is an opera that recounts the story of a jealous husband driven to kill by passion. This is Leoncavallo’s only widely staged opera, and is often paired with Pietro Mascagni’s 'Cavalleria rusticana' as a double bill. 'Pagliacci' features one of opera’s most popular and recognizable arias: 'Recitar! ...Vesti la giubba.' This has helped this opera to become one of the United States' most often staged performances. In this video, WatchMojo.com visits L'Opéra de Montréal to learn more about Leoncavallo’s tragic clown, Pagliacci. For more information, click Here
