Oakland heavy metal band Machine Head are icons in the metal genre. Since they formed in 1991, the group has undergone several line-up changes with guitarist Phil Demmel joining in 2002. While Demmel plays both lead and rhythm guitar alongside vocalist Robb Flynn, he has recently co-written many of the band's material.
