Almost six years to the day after it began, the bloodiest war in history drew to a close. And, there were a number of things at play that led to this end. The Axis, while successful at the outset of the war, had stalled and was failing badly. Eventually, after a few rough battles – including most importantly the Battle of Berlin – led to the Nazi downfall. However, the Japanese remained fervent in their fight, until two atomic bombs were dropped on that country in early August 1945.
