Arriving on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989, this game had players take on the roles of Alex and Ryan, two pals who must battle to free their classmates. At the same time, they must rescue Ryan’s girlfriend Cyndi from a notorious gang lord who has crippled the town with fear. Unique among beat 'em ups, this action-adventure includes RPG elements and an inventory system. Dismissed by many as a mere Double Dragon clone upon its original release, this title has gone on to be recognized as one of the greatest NES games ever made, due to its amazing depth, unique visual style, and for containing some of the best two-player platform fighting of all time.
