Tarzan was created by writer Edgar Rice Burroughs, and made his debut in the 1912 novel “Tarzan of the Apes.” Following this, he went on to star in twenty-five official literary sequels, as well as dozens of books and comics by other authors. The character has even starred in countless stage plays, radio broadcasts, movie adaptations and television programs. A feral child turned heroic adventurer, Tarzan continues to be one of the world's most iconic literary characters of all time, due in great part to his romantic portrayal of life beyond civilization.
