While many people think parenting is an intuitive thing, this may not always be the case. There are a variety of parenting styles that have changed and evolved over time. Autocratic parenting can be described as the “do it because I say so” style. The generation that was raised like this then turned around and let their kids get away with murder. There is a third alternative, according to psychotherapist Alyson Schafer, that maintains respect for both the parents and the children.
