Taj Mahal

Undoubtedly the most popular and well-known tourist attraction in India is the Taj Mahal. This attraction pulls in between two and four million visitors each year, and it was built by an emperor in memory of his late wife.

Agra Fort

The Agra Fort is a walled city built using red sandstone in the sixteenth century. Within it are a number of spectacular palaces and mosques, and the varied architectural styles makes it a distinctive spot.

Golden Temple

The Harmandir Sahib, otherwise known as the Golden Temple, is another spectacular building in India. In Sikhism, this golden building is the holiest shrine in the religion, and its name translates to Temple of God. Another house of worship, the Baha’i Lotus Temple is popular for its remarkable architecture.

India Gate

Meanwhile, the India Gate is a war memorial that is found at the crossroads of a number of Delhi’s main streets.

Statue of Gomateshwara

Next, the statue of Gomateshwara was built in the tenth century, and was voted by residents as one of the Seven Wonders of India. Found at Shravanabelagola, this statue is an important site for members of the Jain faith. At 57-feet high, it is one of the world’s largest stone statues and was created out of one block of granite.
