Clara Kramer: Life Before the Holocaust
Before World War II, there were approximately 3.5 million Jews living in Poland. By the time the war ended, more than ninety per cent of them had been killed. Fifteen-year-old Clara Kramer lived in Zolkiew, Poland with her family at the time of the invasion of her country. To survive the war, her family hid in a hand-dug crawlspace beneath a house for roughly two years. In this video, WatchMojo.com speaks with Kramer about her life in Poland before the war, and finds out why she decided to write and keep a diary about her time hiding from Nazis, that eventually became the book Clara’s War.
