Derby Girls Pt. 4: The Culture of Roller Derby

Today’s grass-roots, self-organized roller derby leagues are some of the most inclusive and diverse groups around. You may see tattoos and piercings, gay, straight, or bisexual athletes, lawyers, daycare workers or teachers. All of the athletes wear flamboyant and colorful costumes – some sexy, some athletic, some purely tacky and hilarious. One of the best parts of derby is the range in individual styles represented on the track.
