The Czech climate can be described as a temperate, continental one. As with most continental climates, the coldest month is January – followed by February and December. Snow is fairly common in the mountains, and major cities also see occasional snowfall. Spring temperatures rise quickly, and this causes occasional flooding. July is the Czech Republic's warmest month, and summer is also the rainiest period in the year.
